BFG Rugged TERRAIN T/A (not trail)

You should look at the Hankook Dynapro AT/M RF 10's. Very aggressive tread, great looking tire rides smooth and quite. I put them on my 07 to replace the Dunlops and really like them. I paid $190 a tire installed and think they are a great buy.
 
pretty interesting article i hadn't found before... they seem to like the Rugged Terrains pretty well. one caption mentions that it's quieter, and gets a little better mpg than the All Terrains...

I also like the looks of them actually ON a vehicle. this is the first pictures i had seen of them mounted. doesn't hurt that they happen to be mounted on a T4R...
 
I saw a set of them on a new dodge ram. They definitely looked aggressive and appeared to be a good tire. Seeing them in person somewhat altered my perseption of these tires. I will be checking them out when I need some new rubber.

good to hear. i definitely want to see them in person. i may have to see if any of the tire shops around here have them in stock yet.
 
Has anyone tried these yet?

Tirerack has changed the classification from "on/off road all terrain" to "all season highway." I am concerned with these tires for snow and trails. There doesnt seem to be much sipping for good snow traction. and the blocks are really close together.

Like everyone else.... 60% dry pavement, 35% snow, a little off roading.... HOWEVER offroad characteristics is a must. We are headed out to colorado in august (imogine / bear / ??? ) and enjoy offroading on vacations.

Thoughts? Experience?

These are a "new" tire for BFG - hit the market May 1, 2011. I would put them better than the rugged trail tire by quite a bit but not equal to the All Trerain KO's. The reviews have been pretty good.
 
I've had these on for about a week in the 265/65/17 size. Had a good amount of rain yesterday on the interstate and had no problems. As quiet as the stock dunlops. I'm in TX, so I'm not too concerned about how they do in the snow.
 
Just to add another data point, I have the BFG Rugged Trail T/As on my 2005 4Runner and I love them. They are the LT (light truck) version, not the P (passenger car) version. I air them up to 40 pounds, and they are smooth and quiet.

In Calgary, Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 Diesels are big sellers, but the buyers want even larger tires and wheels, or mud tires, so it's relatively simple to buy new take-off tires for $100 each.

There's lots of discussion about how bad the Rugged Trails are, but when you separate the discussions into LTs and Ps, it's the Ps that are junk.
 
Here's a picture of the Rugged Terrain's. I got the 265/65/17's. I originally had the 265/70/17's on, but I am not lifting it (beyond the Bilstein's at 0.85) and didn't personally like the stuffed tire look so I had them switched for the 65's. Just my personal preference. Anywho, I really like them so far - have between 500 and 1000 miles on them and don't have any issues with noise or problems in rain.

I'll try and post some soon. I'll probably wait until I install my FJ springs. I decided to use those to level the front instead of the Bilstein 5100's. Tires are great so far - no complaints!
 
Thanks, look forward to it, I almost pulled the trigger on them today, but getting married saturday, honeymoon and lots of moving etc. So thought i'd wait.
 
So, any updates from diss or 4runnerlabr? Or has anyone else tried these out yet that would like to share pics and impressions? I'm close to buying tires, and these are on my short list, along with revo2, nitto terra grapplers,duratracs, falken rocky mountains, and hankook rf10s.. Ok, maybe that's not such a short list after all...:redbrick:
 
I have the rugged terrain and I love them. I added them after installing Bilstein 5100s front and rear and of course the fj springs. I was concerned that they might be too loud but they arent. I have about 700 miles on them now.
