I'd love a copy! ...I was up at Big Bear yesterday and today and the people I was with were all using LeadNAV GPS and all loved it. It's definitely more on the expensive side though at $20 to purchase and I think they said $20/year, but they were making waypoints along the way and editing their routes and all kinds of stuff. They said is uses GPX files, but I need to look up how to download them to the app on my phone, or maybe it's a web login, idk.

Care to elaborate for us trail newbs? Are you saying that those trails are harder than listed? I'm trying to get a gauge of which would be safe for me to try.
We did Heartbreak Ridge yesterday and it's rated at D but I got through it totally fine and my truck is completely stock with just 265 duratracs.

Gold mtn only has one difficult part, but doable in a stock runner. I would call that trail a M
White mtn is even easier, I would call it M as well
I dont know how John Bull Gatekeeper looks this year, but last summer it was definitely a D. There were fully locked yotas on 40s with dual transfer cases that were struggling to get through.
We'll be there 3 days, we plan on running all of them lol!
Except John Bull. I'm debating on Holcomb Valley. There are a bunch of trails in the south that I have never done that I want to check out.
Gold mtn, White mtn and the west part of John Bull we'll do for sure.

John Bull to me isn't much fun either for our type of rigs. I've done it a few times and I don't have much need to do it much more. Holcomb Creek trail is one of my favorites though. It's hard enough to push your vehicle but easy enough to not always need a spotter. As long as you have armor, Holcomb Creek is not that bad. If you are in for a run on Sunday, I may be able to make it up there.

I have full armor, winch, and high clearance rear bumper. But I sit a little low and I have a huge wheelbase.
I guess the only way for me to know for sure if I can clear Holcomb is to try lol!
We'll be wheeling Sun, but I have to leave around 1 or 2pm latest

LeadNav vs Gaia
Has anyone had any experience with LeadNav or Gaia gps apps on iPhone or iPad? These seem to be the top choices for many folks and since they both cost some money to get started, I'd like to pick one or the other. I use MotionX currently but I'd like to get a little more out of my mapping app. Pro's and Con's to either?

gaia is rad. i just downloaded it for our sequia trip and it was such a godsend. zero service in the parks, but my USFS and NPS maps were spot on. i like the ability to add waypoints as you go, edit the icons, add notes, etc. i'm still new to it but i can already tell i will be using it a lot.

If anyone is interested, I got pretty much all of the San Bernardino Mountain's Trails and lots of waypoints in .gpx format. Basically all of Cleghorn, Big Bear and Bighorn Wilderness. Also a few random areas by the Salton Sea such as Truckhaven, Ocotillo Wells, and North Glamis Hot Springs. Also got some OC stuff in there too. I figured I'd share if anyone wants a link to the files in a Dropbox folder. Idk if the trail colors will carry over but they are colored for difficulty. The .zip file is to big to upload here, so let me know if you want the link and I'll PM it to you.
If the colors carry over for you my color systems is the following:
Green = Easy
Blue = Moderate
Red = Difficult
Orange = OHV Trail (for dirt bikes, etc)
If there is any pink in there it's just a random track I've recorded. I tried to pull all those out though for you guys.
EDIT: I have and will continue to update the linked folder as I get more trails. I'm just going to rename the file in numerical order as I get more. If there are any trails that you have that are not in my files, please share so we can have a more complete file.
So it took me a min to figure out why your maps and tracks and info along with the colors looked so familiar and Identical to something I have seen before or that I have even posted before along with your Cleghorn, TruckHaven tracks and random Salton sea area you have so politely put on "your" maps.
When I overlay my maps I created onto your maps you worked so hard at to create and put together they match identically for some odd reason...
And the pink line or "your random track" you made that your trying to remove are actually pink lines from the outlining of a penis I drew on one of my maps over a camping area some friends were camping at not your tracks. If your tracks why erase and I can't recall any gps or maps using that pink or pink for that matter for tracking.
If your gonna take credit for some else's countless hours of work you may wanna think twice about posting them on a forum where that person is active on the forum ....stating as your own and happily wanting to share.
I don't think you need me to post my maps over laid onto yours or side by side
That really "assburns" me when people take credit for others work.

Sorry for any confusion if you thought these were all tracks I've personally recorded. Maybe I should have been clearer on that. It's more of my collection of waypoints and tracks that I've gotten from various sources such as my friends, trails offroad, gps owl, gps depot and other forums. I am NOT trying to claim these as "my" tracks in any way. What I am trying to do is give everyone an easy to download file that has most of those trails and waypoints all in one easy download. Yes I have put in some effort in finding a lot of these files and cleaning them up, fixing waypoint names, color coding, naming trails effectively, etc. Sorry for any confusion and I will edit the first post with a disclaimer that these are I in fact not mine.

I'm going to seriously recommend Backcountry Navigator Pro.
Another for Backcountry Nav Pro. I use it on every trip. I have a tablet with 32gb SD card and have the entire state of CO downloaded on multiple map sources. Most maps have the trails on them as well.

So far I have really liked MotionX-GPS app but the lack of available satellite and aerial maps is quite a drag. Couple other things I'd like to see in MotionX is the ability to change waypoint icons and faster offline map download speeds. Other than those few things I have been really happy with the app.

Here is my .GPS file for SoCal and Utah. Upload it into Backcountry Navigator Pro on Android. The paid version is $9.99 and worth it. The free version should be usable as well but limited.

* Lots of free government maps including the forestry service road names, topology etc most 10+ levels deep
* Download the maps on a grid while at home over WIFI then on the trail use GPS only mode (no data) and the map to locate yourself against the markers
* Upload your own waypoints or preset ones from Traildamage.com or whomever.
* Export import as much as you want
* See your cursor as you move across the map IN HD towards your nav points, basically it perfectly shows you against the map
* Search for a trail name. Seriously it works. Download the forestry service map, then type in the trail name in the app and it will show the trail and where you are located vs the trailhead.

You have to buy an android adapter to get backcountry to work on apple.
Backcountry is dope AF. I used gaia and PDF maps and ran with a buddy who used motion X. Backcountry for the WIN
