Big Bear to Las Vegas offroad adventure 2016?

I was trying to find out if there was any info on a off-road trail to vegas from san Bernardino and i came across this article that was pretty cool, has anyone on here ever took a trip like that to vegas? I think it would be awesome to get as many socal guys on here to all plan a vegas trip to vegas possibility early next year.

Looks like they did Big Bear to Barstow and then Barstow to Vegas.

From an ATV forum:
Big Bear to Barstow - "You can go from Big Bear, down thru Rattlesnake Canyon, to Lucerne, to Barstow... Never done it that way but have done each section on its own. Should be something you can do with little if at all non-green sticker riding."

From Barstow I think you're going to follow one of the power line roads to Primm and then to Vegas.

Post up details as this gets planned out!

Not yet but will be doing some research on lefal possible roads

I would be interested in something like this as well. There has been talk about doing a Barstow to Vegas trip in the socal section. If planed we would need to find refueling spots along the way or carry a lot extra fuel since the trip can take a few days.

That's a good story about the Big Bear to Vegas run. I read a couple of paragraphs and will read the rest tonight.
I see they did the run in November. And it was on small quad track Kawasaki rigs, though the road should accommodate a 4Runner too.
Going early next year would mean winter time. Big Bear Lake is at 7000 feet so there could be snow in winter. That's real cold!
I'd be up for this run if the weather's good. Snow is okay too, you just have to be ready with the gear and warm clothes. The desert would be cool too. Camp out part way there?

We did Death Valley after Christmas last year and it dropped to single digits. In the tent with a 0 degree bag was still chilly. But made me realize I could do winter camping.

This road trip would be awesome. Then I could play Pai Gow poker in Vegas and have adult libations.

I have done Lucerne/Rattlesnake Canyon to Big Bear and plenty of trails in Big Bear usually starting in Pioneer Town. I have gone Lucerne to Barstow but I ended up on the highway for a bit not knowing the exact all dirt route. Very interested in Barstow to Primm. My old boss is planning on doing a similar run but in a bunch of Raptors.

Lol. thats where I'm located. been on a couple trips with different groups on here and they have all been good times and great people thus far.
I'm really exstatic about seeing a trip like this get started.

I spent some time today looking at some trails on google earth. It make the most sense to depart down the south-east portion of big bear mountain. There doesn't seem to be any maps from the OP's link. Im not very familiar with this area but, Im sure someone with knowledge of the area can chime in. I did find a link to a similar expedition from vegas, ending in johnson valley with a few gps waypoints.

I was looking for a way to stay completely off road from big bear to johnson valley, but i was unable to find any. Although most roads out there are dirt...which i guess I could consider off road.
