if yer wondering, its the anniversary of the 1906 earthquake that rocked San Fransisco. Left over 250,000 homeless, fires rages, etc. . . . one of the few times in US History Martial law has also been declared.

Hmmm, how does that compare to Katrina? Was Martial Law in effect with Katrina?

what do you mean, how does it compare to katrina? In the fact that half the city flooded and therefore caused riots? In San Fran, buildings collapsed then the subsequent fires raged through the city?

or the fact that it has been one of the most devastating natural disasters to hit the united states?


I was merely stating this fact because not very many people remember, or recall this event. It's not really even taught in US History class. Everyone remembers Katrina because of how televised it was.

I thought you were talking about the fact that there is a strong likelihood that very soon, for the first time in the 220 year history of the U.S. Supreme Court, there will be no Protestant judges on the U.S. Supreme Court. Most people aren't giving it much thought, but it will be a cultural and symbolic milestone in U.S. history if it happens.

I bet you didn't know that for me April 26th was a holiday for the state of Georgia. "Confederate Memorial Day", just in case your wondering. All state employees get that day off. When I first started working for the state I went into work that day and no one was there. Being from up north, I had no idea about the holiday.

thats cool. i'm from up north as well so I've never heard of stuff like that.

While traveling through northeastern AL I found a sign that celebrated Robert E. Lee's Birthday.........guess which holiday that corresponds with? MLK

We get Robert E. Lee's birthday too. I think we use it for the day after Thanksgiving. Also, Georgia got MLK's birthday off two years before it became a national holiday. Bottom line, we get 12 holidays. We don't get paid much though.
