Ok, I'm planning to do this big trip in late March. Colorado to Key West via the Gulf Coast and then back via the East Coast to SC then through the Smokies and whatever else is in between.
We'll be pulling our little Casita trailer with our 3rd Gen 2000 T4R (Lil' Bob) and hoping everything goes as planned. Bob's got 181,000 miles so far and seems to be still going strong. This trip will add about 6,000 miles when it's all said and done. Bob has never given me a lick of trouble in the 14+ years I've had him.
When we get back from this trip I'm thinking it'll be about time for an upgrade. Next big trip might be to the Baja. Bob does a good job pulling the trailer which weighs 2,700 empty but struggles getting up big mountain passes and I am looking for a little more power in the next one. The 6 cyl 4.0L will be an improvement over my 3.4L but I'm wondering if I wouldn't be happier with the 8 cyl.
Anyway, this is my last newbie post and that's my story. I'll be posting some questions about this upgrade in the regular forums from now on, hoping for some good advice.
Thanks!
