Big Wind Heads to Northern California

Starting Wednesday night Alaskan wind and rain with snowy conditions for four days forecast for the Sierras......Anyone up for a ride East to Nayak grab a cup of Joe and back when it hits?

Oh yeah... this is suppose to be one of the most powerful storms in the last 50 years. So much that there are special advisories and frequent road closures warnings predicted.

Depending on what the storm conditions are and if it's overstated by metorogolists, I might head up to the Sierras. It'll be my first weekend in the cabin. This storm is expected to dump 5-10'. There's suppose to be another storm coming after this one next Tuesday.

I was up in the El Dorado forest today playing off of Mormon Immigrant trail towards 88 and Kirkwood

Lots of stuck and messed up trucks everywhere

and I cannot find my camera. pitty.

Nayak about 60 miles east of Sacramento right after the Blue Canyon Exit. Cal Trans usually sets up it's chain control just before the Nayak exit. Here's a pic.

hey that on 80 right! That looks familiar. It sucks we are taking my friends minivan instead of the 4Runner this weekend.

That pic brings back fond memories.
I used to reside in Tuolumne County off of 108 @ 3000 ft elevation.

When we get storms like that I head out driving , I love driving in the stuff and snow wheeling. This year I've driven in some horrible white outs , nerve racking but the 4R holds its own just fine.

Just be careful and watch out for the other idiots on the road. I find that to be the most dangerous part.

To bad we all don't live closer it would be fun to get a group of 4R's together and take such a venture just for fun. It would be kind of cool rolling up on one of those road blocks with like 20 4R's in a row.

That's what I've been thinking about ever since. We need a caravan of 4Runners rolling down I80 up to Lake Tahoe.

I won't be making it up this weekend... other commitments. I should be good next week, most likely leaving Friday night though.
