Sorry to revive an old thread. Quick question:

I totally understand and agree with using the same size spare tire.

Is there any real benefit to getting the same wheel as well? I have stock Trail wheels on my 2013, and I am wanting to get a fifth one as well, but is it really worth it as long as the tire is the same size?

I matched the spare wheel because I do 5 tire rotations...otherwise it won't make a difference as long as the size is the same.

yes, the width just means it hangs lower, and a 285/70 17 fits easily

Been wondering about this because I know it's no good on your speed sensors getting a weird reading from one tire with a smaller spare. Have to keep it under 30 this way. Thanks sir!

Looks like it would drag though a lot on trail. My 265 spare did.

Right a different size will confuse your ECU with conflicting speed sensor values. I couldn't afford a spare when I upgraded and blew a sidewall in the middle of the forest. Fine on the trail at low speed. Couldn't go over about 30 mph or my gearing and and rpms when letting off gas would act crazy.

Let me get a pic today. The rear diff is still lower, so it clears that way, haven’t ran into any departure angle issues.

If you have onboard air you can deflate the spare to zero psi to make it a bit smaller. I do this on my diesel truck.

My stock spare tire has hit while wheeling. Do you guys wheel with the large spares? I am looking at a full rear bumper from victory now.
