biggest tire size for stock 17 in rims

I need to get new tires for a 2003 4wd 4runner with stock 17 inch rims. What is the largest tire size I can put on the rims ? 4runner is stock and is not lifted.
I am looking at the Nitto terra graplers. My idea is to go with a taller and wider tire but still stick with the stock rim. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Your limitation would be with your lack of lift, not your stock wheels. People run 315's on stock wheels. Check out the lift faq thread for information on fitting tires on stock suspension

Your shocks on your 2003 (if original) are probably toast. Might be a good time to improve the suspension and get larger tires.
