Just some other shots of the build.....so far have done all of the work myself and learned a ton.

First the OME and 1-1/4" spidertrax and getting rid of the factory running boards.

i know nothing about 4 wheeling. what are the sliders for? can they or are they used to step on to get in the truck? are they direct bolt on or is welding required? i have seen these with a bump on the back part. what is it for? i wouldn't mind replacing the factory running boards with some of these.

Sliders: Rock sliders are there to protect your doors and body. There is bolt on and weld on versions . The most popular is weld on. Bolt on sliders can be done but they are not very popular with the offroad folks. Most people feel weld on sliders are stronger. The bump on the back is called a "kick out" it is designed to push the truck away from the obstacle to clear the tire and wheel. Some prefer no kick out. These should be built very well because they will be used to support the weight of the vehicle at times.

Just returned from a great wheeling event, the Thrill on the Hill in Cloudcroft NM.
Event ended up having roughly 90 yotas. Got to meet and wheel with NateMobb and his badass runner, which made me super jealous of his rear bumper, dude that thing is sweet, and great hanging with ya. Did some pretty rocky wheeling in the desert one day, which was a new experience for me, and followed that up with a little overland day of 80 miles of which 65 was on dirt forest service roads. Here are a few pictures of the days.....Ill load up some more when i get home. By the way, and as always, thanks for the photos Jediwebdude

Well guys i am in need of some advice. It appears this weekend I broke a tooth (or two) off my front gears and to stay on the safe side had the rig towed back to DFW from the Toyota Lonestar Jamboree at BMRA (east texas). Luckily my good friend was able to lend a hand with the towing and i drove his rig back to town. BIG THANKS THERE MAN.

So I plan on dumping the diff fluid out of the front and see what all falls out, there is a heavy clunking noise in 2wd and 4wd so that leads me to believe there are some teeth missing. I have already talked to a local shop and they are working up some numbers to regear front and rear and add a ARB w/ compressor. Gear wise i am looking at nitro 4:56's and 4:88's. Id be interested to hear what your experiences are and if you are wishing you had done something else. I have read [MENTION=47945]brian2sun[/MENTION] comments on the 4:88's he has on 35's but I never plan to go with that big of tire selection.

I do plan on continuing my front skids to belly pan and adding a gas tank skid as well as a tire carrier rear bumper. I do take trips to NM and CO, so i need to be able to handle the hwy travel with a trailer as I would like to build a overland trailer with tent. It is not my daily driver.

Yeah, I am glad you had that out there. It would have been a long slow drive back to DFW without it.

I'm ready to trade in enduring the Dallas Tollway for peaceful driving through the yellow flowered valley in New Mexico.

Im going to have to stop leaving the metroplex. Every time I do it makes it harder, and harder to come back. I hate the concrete jungle and the population density!

Undoubtedly it will happen, but just not yet. Just rolled 107k on the truck this last trip, so i am in no hurry. I really like the way it has all come together, and not ready for that big of a transformation.

Ill have to rework the rear cargo area now, and the spare is going up on top.
New cargo platform already in the works. Stay tuned.....

I think this addition should push a rear tire carrier up the list to keep that tire off the roof. Man thats awesome, is that the same size as Phil's?

I lived in DFW for 26 years, grew up there. I don't know if I can ever go back after living here in Virginia. It's not the greatest, but I can drive 15 minutes from my house, cross a bridge, and there is nothing but fields, forest and farmland. It used to take an hour before I could see anything resembling a field or forest when I lived in DFW. I did live right at 635/75, which was very convenient.

Already started things up, got drawings into the fabricator this weekend. Hope to be getting the template back this week to guarantee fitment prior to fabrication.

Man the rear bumper was on my short list. Now this......looks like i should have something in the works before the end of the year. I don't like the idea of having the spare upstairs, but at this point I really don't have much of a choice. All i know is ill have nice cold beverages at my disposal, pretty much any time of day!! :eyebrows:
