hmmm...no problems with the Rush huh? Must be that I am having problems because of my bigger suspension on the propeht. :biggrin2:

I use my roof mounted Yakima Raptors. I have the 3" lift and 285 nittos (basically 33s), and I have no problem loading my bikes up there. I hold on to the roof rack with one hand, and pick up my bike with my other hand. (Plus, I'm only 5'8")....Here are some pics.

I chose the roof racks because I didn't want to fool with lowering/raising a hitch mounted rack, I also prefer to leave the stuff on at all times, and I just like the overall aesthetic appearance of the roof racks over the hitch racks.

I have Thule roof racks for my MTB, road and commuter bikes. Roof racks are easiest on the bikes (in on road scenarios where you don't have to worry about height). I got the Thule Revolver 964 hitch mount for hauling cruiser bikes and when I go camping with my MTB.

At 1st I thought roof racks would be cool but I ride Down Hill so It would be a PITA to get my bikes on the roof. 20mm front axles, 2.5" - 3.0" tires, and 37lbs = rear load rack :thumb3:

I'm a big fan of roof mounted racks. Here in NYC the chance of getting hit from behind is high, and finding a spot long enough to parallel park with a hitch mounted rack is not too likely. I have two Thule Big Mouths. They fit on my load bars side by side, with room in the middle for an extra one facing backwards.

I have a 4 bike hitch carrier that will fold down to allow access to the tailgate. I've had this rack for about 5 yrs now and never a problem. I just used it a couple of days ago. I bought it from CABELA's, which is my favorite retailer. I don't remember the price, but I'm sure it was reasonable or I would not have purchased it.
I used to have the type that uses straps to mount the carrier to the vehicle. That was a piece of garbage and eventually was kicked to the curb.

I've had a Thule roof rack forever, I had it on my 3rd gen and now my '08 Sport with a Daystar lift. I'm only 5 8" or so but I've always got them up there. Only drawback with mine is it is a fork mount which i just like better but you have to deal with the front wheel separately.

I'm standing on a curb here so it's not exactly the usual height. I carry 2 or 3 bikes on the roof, 2 bikes leaves room for a POD...
