Members, I'm afraid noobs get the worst when they have their very first post on any site. I'm really new to this 4Runner as I've never imagined going into the SUV segment as I've always loved sports car, but with having a bigger family, I've decided to pull the trigger on a 3rd row SR5 4Runner. (The SR5's infamous nose dive) Yes, I've read some shocks can help it the ride quality but the dive will always be there, yes, it's higher up, yes, it's a SUV, and yes, it's a heavier car, it will have some gravity pull as it's not a sports car. Now, I hear these shocks being put on but, I don't hear anything about springs. Are people using stock springs? I will probably only use this rig 90% highway as DD and 5% camping/ 5% off roading. That said, I have a 3rd row that will be active and a hitch cargo trailer as once the 3rd row is set-up, there's barely any room back there for cargos. Now, I want some ride quality and I'm sure if I get some combo springs/shocks, what's the best springs for the 5100's (all around) with stock tire specs and leveling the car? I do sometime will have kids-teenagers in the 3rd row so maybe it's something I havent read yet or come across because mainly this mod is for the people with more off-roading pleasure or people with more land or country side. Here in the cities, I'm sure that these will help benefit my ride quality. Help would be appretiated to point me to the path others have gone.

My use for the 4runner is the same as you.

Changing just the shocks to 5100s will reduce, but not eliminate, the nose dive. I have this setup and I can attest to that much. The ride is better than factory IMO and I used the front 5100 ability to adjust ride height to level out the truck with the 1st notch up (0.85 in). I'm still running stock springs. This setup still has a very slight forward rake and when you have people in back or camping gear it should sit perfectly flat.

As far as adding springs with the shocks. The 5100s are very popular for simply adding lift springs to as the shocks have extended travel compared to the stock shocks. I'm not familiar with any springs that simply level out the truck. But there are lift springs that will add 3in in the front and 2in of lift in the back to level the truck that way.

I'm currently looking for lift springs to upgrade my truck after using just the 5100s for the last 2 years. I'm probably just going to call toytec and see what they recommend. Maybe OME 884 springs in front with their toytex super flex springs in back. That should give me a 2in lift front and back so i maintain my current leveled rake with my 0.85 5100 setting.

ToyTec Superflex Heavy Duty Rear Coils - for the BACK
Toytec-Eibach Front Coils - for the FRONT

This is somehow I was after but would see if the ride quality would be better than the stock shocks on Bilistein's.

Do you have 3rd row? Just woundering what kind of rake a 3rd row sr5 would have with 5100s at .85, especially fully loaded.
