Bilstein 5100 1.75 Setting

Check out my album Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

It sits nearly level. I have bilsteins with a 1.5 inch daystar in the back.

What setting do you have your fronts at? 3rd ring (1.75) or 4th (2.5) ?

I have a 2005 SR5 V6 4WD with 120K on the clock. I have been doing my research and want to go with the same exact set up you have with the 5100's at 1.75 to level out the front. Ive just been curious how mind blowing the ride improvement is? So I have a few questions if you don't mind.
How is the daily driving compared to the stock springs?
How does it ride on unimproved roads (dirt/trails/messed up pavement) compared to stock shocks?

I don't think mine rides terribly but i've only owned it for about 3 months. I would just really like to get it level and improve the on and off road driving if thats what the new shocks would do.
Thank you for your responses and your original post with pictures. Here is my 4runner.

I have 5100's @ 1.75 on the front and daystar 1.5" spacers on the rear with FJ coils. Mine retains a little of the factory rake, which I like. To me, the ride is slightly better than stock. I didn't find the bilsteins to be significantly stiffer than the OEM shocks. The "improvement" was minimal, maybe "moderate." You'll lose some caster angle with stock UCA's so you'll (probably) notice the steering is less precise at higher speeds. Depending on the condition of our suspension before, I think you'll notice the steering more that the bounce. With my last alignment, I was around 2 degrees on the caster setting. Optimal is 4 degrees, or something like that.

2005 T4R 4wd V6 on Bilstein 5100’s At 1.75” setting on stock springs. This was immediately after I set the truck down. After my test drive, it settled and now sits level (eyeball). I am very happy so far based off of my 10 min on/off-road test drive.

Thanks for your input dude. I’ve posted some pictures here of my before and after in the garage. Once I drive it, it settled down to level with the rear. I’m going to get some side shots outside today. UCA’s are on my radar but I don’t think they are a item that I need to stress about getting ASAP. I will get them though.

Happy New Year! It seems like aftermarket UCA's are only really a necessity if you are going over about 2" in lift. At least, that's the trend that I've seen when reading through all the build threads. That was why I chose to set my Bilsteins at 1.75. General consensus was that setting was safe with stock UCA's, which I found to be the case. I'd like some Total Chaos UCA's but the budget for that has many, many other priorities ahead of them... grrrrr. Some day....)

Haha yeah man I understand that budget. I have an envelope that I stash money in so I don’t touch the savings. Or my wife would karate chop me.
I set mine at 1.75” and no spacers in the rear. Stock springs and I love the level look now. I do need some more aggressive tires but when I bought this back in October, the previous owner just bought these the week prior, so being a baller on a budget, I’ll run these for a while.
Thanks for the info and the help. I’ll be saving for UCA sometime in the far future lol. IMG_3312.JPGIMG_3092.JPG

Posted this update in another section but here's my update...

Just wanted to post an update after installing 5100's front and rear shocks with stock springs. 2008 V8 4x4 here with 110k miles. 5100's set to 1.75" in front. Completely removed the x-reas system and lines (what a mess!).

Measurements from ground to fender (at center of wheel)
Before:
LF 33.25" RF 33"
LR 35.75" RR 36"

After (approx 50miles of driving):
LF 35" RF 35"
LR 35.2" RR 36"

Gain of 2” in front and 0 in rear. Pretty much as expected. The truck is pretty much level at this point however I’m wondering after loading cargo/camping gear etc I may end up with a negative rake (don’t want). We’ll see!

NOTES:
Interesting to see the LR at a lower height - maybe fuel load difference? Alignment came out perfectly with nothing out of specs after. No rubbing issues at this time with 265-65-18 Limited wheels. Overall impression of the 5100's is good. With using the stock springs the ride hasn't drastically changed (which is perfect for me). I notice less body roll in cornering and less nose dive under braking.

For the sake of data--

2005 SR5 V8 with ~135k w/ original coils and 5100's with front set at 1.75" put me at near level with the rear about 1/4-3/8" higher.
