Bilstein 5100 vs 6112

^This exactly.

I’ve been running the 5100s in stock coils now for about 20,000 miles and I absolutely love them. I off-road regularly and they have never once failed me. I don’t even think about the suspension right now or wish I had gone a different route, which says a lot for me.

Too many words in this thread...not enough pics.

does it handle a lot better offroad?

Yes, I believe it does. I off road more than anyone I know and I’m totally impressed and satisfied. I also tow a trailer regularly and these 5100s have exceeded their price point. It’s possible a suspension snob would be able to tell me how “crappy” my suspension rides, but I honesty love driving the truck on and off road. I’m sure a $3,000 reservoir setup is better but this is such an improvement over stock and given the sheer amount of abuse I’ve put these through, I’d buy another set in a heartbeat. They have exceeded every expectation.

Can anyone tell me if pairing 5100 rear shock with ICON 2” spring will provide too much lift on the rear if I set 6112 at 1.2-1.75” or do you think I should use stock coils for the rear ?
Looking to do a mild lift on my limited but not sure what settings I should be doing. Tire size is 265/70/17.

i did 6112 and 5160s on my limited. set the 6112s to the 2.5" setting and added dobinsons C59-505r 1.5" lift coils. I dont have a lot of weight in the back of my limited (no third row, etc), and i got 2" of lift from the coils. you may get more than 2" with the icons. i have a 1.5-2" rake with the 6112s at the top perch settings after the bilstien coils settled. 22 and 22.5" hub to fender in front, 24 in the rear

Ummmm Google it?

Thanks for the input. I figured since I was on a forum dedicated to 4runners someone may be able to offer me a quick response on if they would fit. It’s ok if you don’t know the answer but there are a lot of helpful members here willing to post substance and offer help. I see you aren’t one of them

How do you like the ride compared with Xreas?

There's a little more nose dive under braking, but roll side to side is about the same. In general, the ride is more comfortable than XREAS, but dont get me wrong--it's no lexus. When it comes to obstacles or hitting ruts, rocks, bumps, etc., there is no comparison... there is a night and day difference between XREAS and the bilsteins. Large bumps/changes in elevation that that used to cause the xreas suspension to bottom out are soaked up well by the bilsteins. I'm also able to carry a lot more speed on fire roads and across terrain than i could with xreas

Thank you for the reply. So you are saying the 6112/5160 doesn’t give up any comfort that Xreas provides on pavements and they are better when going over potholes and broken roads ?

I am looking to do soon getting rid of x-reas sounds like 6112 front 5100 rear. Do I need springs? Little lifting/leveling lite off roading .

Good info. I'm looking at the 5100's with EMU springs and deleating the XREAS myself. I'm happy with the XREAS + Daystar leveling kit but I have nothing to compare it too. Lots of ruts, speedhumbs and potholes in my area.
