Bilstein 5100s+FJ springs done

Finally got them done. I will post pictures in the morning when I have some daylight. I picked up my truck at 8PM tonight so I havent had time to take pics. First of all I want to confirm, the ride change is incredible. I could tell as soon as I pulled into the street that it was diffferent. More firm, less sailing, less cabin noise, less weight transfer during brake/turns. Probably the best mod I've done so far.

I did do the measurements here at work at least since I couldnt post pics right away. I started out with a 2" rake and was hoping to be between 1/2" and 1" when it was done. Well the Bilstein 5100s set at .85 took some out but not as much as I'd hoped. I dont think its because of the 5100 settings, I got exactly what I had planned for. The rear of the truck is where my paper figures did not match up. Hopefully the rear will settle a little bit and remove a little more rake.

Measurements:

Before- 33.5" front, 35.5" rear

After- 35" front, 36.5" rear

Summary: I was expecting 1/2" all the way around from FJ springs and 1" up front from 5100s. This would take 1" of rake leaving me with 1". I ended up right on the money up front but got 1 full inch in the rear for some reason.

Im now at 1.5" rake and im debating on moving up to the 3rd notch (1.75) to give me 1 more inch up front. This would put me about 1/2" rake. Regardless I'm going to drive it about 3 weeks to see how the rear will settle before I do anything.

Good deal. Surprising you got that much lift on the rear. Put a few hundred miles on it and remeasure. The next setting would probably level it out better, assuming it doesn't settle.

Here's one quick pic taken on the drive home this morning I doubt the street is perfectly level. This is at .85 setting with FJ springs all the way around. I am currently sitting at 1.5" rake but I've only put about 40 miles on it so far (2" rake stock). How much did you guys settle out if any?

What do you think? Do I need another inch up front?

I think it looks good just like it is! From the looks in the pic, if you go up anymore in the front, I think it would look nose-high. Keep it like it is! It looks good man!

Your rear will settle some. Mine was about 1/4 lower after 1000 miles.

Looks good to me. It should settle some, which may help (depending on if it's the front or rear that settles). Take a jack, put it under the front, raise the front 1" and look at it. This will give you a good idea of what's needed. Only other option would be adding the Toytec 1/4" thick spacer to the front. This would be relatively cheap, and hit right in the middle of what you currently have.

Not to sidetrack, but my current setup has 1/2" rake. Here's a couple pics to give you an idea of what that looks like (mine is 5100's front on 3rd notch with FJ springs, lifted rear with air bags).

I think it looks good! Measure from the ground to the running boards, front and rear, to determine the rake. The front and rear fenders aren't identical so it won't accurately describe your stance.

Im also thinking hard about painting my headlight housings tomorrow. Yay or nay?

wat color were you planning on painting your light housing?

cuz i have the same color as you and i want to paint my housing navy blue in front and back(going for the chrome/navy blue look) but no one has done it before...the only thing ive seen is black.

hey man, glad to see that you got the install done! I guess you decided to go with the 0.85" setting instead of the 1.75". I remember you were worried that I might end up with a "Bro Lift" - LMAO. I still can't stop laughing when I think of that phrase

But - bros don't really lift; neither do homies ? They lower theirs usually.. haha

Truck is looking nice! I don't think front or rear will "settle" by much, if at all? The latest pic you took does make it look like the front has a bigger gap between the top of the tire and the wheel well. I find that to be true with some of the pictures I took of my truck too - probably just different angles and such. The BFG's you're putting on will fill up the wheel well some too.

Post pictures when you get the new tires and spacers done - would love to see.

All pro spacers in the mail. Just picked up these tires today. Got them used on local CL really cheap. Just wanted to get an idea of where I wanted to go next. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2s 265/70/17
