bilstein bts shocks

Has anyone tried the BTS shocks from bilstein? I'm looking to upgrade the clapped-out shocks on my '03 V8 SR5. While I do go off-road from time to time, the majority of my driving is on the highway, so I don't think I need coilovers. Any info would be appreciated.

What are BTS bilsteins?? Is that a new shock form Bils?? I would get whatever is the direct replacement from Bilsteins for your stock shocks. But, you need to know that the Bils are stiffer than stock shocks. Your 4runner will handle a bit better and possibly less floaty, but the ride will be stiffer. If you like the stock ride, then i would go with stock shocks or Monroe sensatrak.

Also, i would check Edelbrock to see if they make shocks for the 4th gen 4runners. Edelbrock shocks are on par with Bils and are possibly more comfortable.

Monroe, KYB or Bilstein

Thanks for the info Thai, I was starting to think that no one had changed the shocks on their truck. The bilsteins are direct replacement shocks. I don't know much about the monroe's but I found a site that sells them. Apparently the sensatracs are only offered for the front, while the reflex's are offered only for the rear. A car nut friend of mine recommended the KYB GR2's, which are $55 cheaper for a set of 4 vs. the bilsteins. I want the ride to be more secure, read less floaty, but I don't want it to be like a race car either. Anyone tried the other shocks I mentioned? Here's a link to shock warehouse with the different models

I heard that KYBs are good but is not any better than Bils and may ride rougher. If you decide between KBY and Bils, then i would definitely go with Bils.

Thanks again Thai. Looks like the Monroes are about $50 less than the Bilsteins. Apparently Edelbrock does not yet offer shocks for the 4Runner. Do you have Monroes on your MB?

My G500 comes stock with Bilsteins. I had Bilsteins on my 2002 (3rd gen) 4runner. See my thoughts on them: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=343&highlight=bilsteins

I have heard back when i had my 4runner that the Monroes were the closest aftermarket shocks to OEM. They provided slightly more control than OEM but the ride is not as stiff as the others.
