I received my kit today, but the box looked like it went through a tornado.

I actually had a piece of the shocks sticking out. I don't know if it is actually damaged. The thread doesn't seem like it's damaged. But I"m not sure if I should attempt to have this installed?

What do you guys think?

They will work just fine. Used the same on my kit.

Last question I swear (hopefully). Can anyone confirm that the circlips on the actual 4R Pro kit are at different height the same as the FJ kit?

Anyone experiencing the infamous 4R TRD Pro clunk with this kit?

So I finally read the entire thread. I have a 2011 4runner SR5.

I have already purchased the kit and have not received it yet. I also bought the KYB Top Hats as I have a feeling mine need to be replaced. I really like the look with the Daystar 1.25" pre-loaders but would need to get the T-13 coils in the rear. Do the KMB top hats have a spacer built into them or are they the stock width as OEM? wondering if I can use them along with the Wheeler pre-loaders.

Also does anyone have the link to the T-13 coils.

I'm in Phoenix area and reached out to a shop looking like $400 to install, hopefully not get the runaround otherwise will take it to San Diego and use the Truck Shop in Miramar someone recommended.

I just want to make sure they know about clip placement for the front as mine does not have KDSS. Also the rear re-use of the washer/spacer is something I hope they realize as well.

Excited as my suspension has been shot for a while. I appreciate all the information on here.

Those top hats will work fine with or without the Wheeler preload spacers. The T-13 coils can be found on the Wheelers Offroad website as well.

I would ask for another kit. That is not acceptable to me. The shock should be compressed with a green band holding it. Clearly that slipped off and punched a hole through the box. Not worth the hassle if you install then realize there is a problem. Just email the shipper and they should ship out another kit.

Just ordered after lots of reading. Wife didn’t want the truck lifted 3” with our young son so this was a good compromise.

My plan is to install the kit as is, front will be about 1” higher with just the kit alone and if I want later I can add a small spacer. Rear is just getting the new shocks, again eventually maybe new springs after I drive it a bit.

Is the recommended top hat the KYB? I would resue mine however I am bringing all the front suspension parts to a tire shop to have them compress the spring and assemble them. Takes away the risk and probably the hardest part.

Pretty excited even though it’s a big install....

TBH, that wasnt bad at all when I did mine. I pulled the old stuff out in one piece, installed the new top hats with top spacer, and using a floor jack to push the strut into place it took almost no time at all. Even compressed/assembled is going to be a ***** without loosening up everything you already did for the no-compressor method.


BTW, I had a ***** of a time getting the rears off. Have some large channel locks available if you dont have a buddy.

Ya I know there is a bit I’ll Have to loosen up things and take off the sway bar too

I'm sure it'll be fine if you've inspected for any additional damage. These are off-road shocks, built to take a little abuse.

First off, picked up my T4R Off Road Premium this last Friday but I have been following (lurking) for about 9 months now. Finally pulled the trigger over Memorial day weekend.
I had been following this thread and read/skimmed most of it, and others, ordered this kit, should be here in a few days, thank you to the OP and others. For all this fine knowledge.
But I have one question, with a few parts….
1. The rear mounting for the resevior, seems my T4R many not have the mounting holds threaded (2018 Off Road Premium) so I will have to do some sort of RivNut or something to mount. I understand that, if so
2. Do the rear mounting brackets and clasp to mount the remote reservoir come in the kit or do I need to purchase separately? Most of the pictures of the kit don’t show the brackets that I can tell. If so
3. Has anyone confirmed these (Bilstein 11-176015 B1 (Components) 5160 Billet Reservoir Clamp - Shockwarehouse.com ) will work or not on these diameter shock bodies?

Yes those will work. I'm currently running them. Make sure you angle them away from the frame slightly so the reservoir clears the frame above it and the link below it.

I'm assuming by circlips you mean the spring perches? If so, they are at a different height. The spring perches on the FJ coilovers are 1" lower than the 4R coilovers. They both result in a ~1" lift up front because the springs on the FJ coilovers are 1" longer (14") than the springs on the 4R coilovers (13").

Thanks, I mean the circlips that are holding the perches. There are at different heights left to right (apparently to account for extra driver side weight?)

I'm curious in this is still the case on the 4R or if they should be set to the same height left and right.

Will do. I'm going to try to get it aligned next weekend so hopefully they can get everything to spec.

Did you get your truck aligned? Did it align into factory specs? I ended up buying the same setup as you, the front Toytec 1" spring perch and Wheelers T-13 rear springs.

Did you get your truck aligned? Did it align into factory specs? I ended up buying the same setup as you, the front Toytec 1" spring perch and Wheelers T-13 rear springs.

Here's the alignment sheet. They were able to get everything to spec except the SAI. It's just slightly out of spec and the guy that did the alignment didn't think I should worry about it but that new UCAs would probably help.

I don't know much about alignments, but after reading some stuff on the forum it sounds like SAI isn't adjustable and that sometimes it's out of spec when there's a bent or damaged part. Can anyone chime in as to whether UCAs would help this or if I damaged something during instal?
