Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

Anyone looking for this kit in Southern California I have one at the dealer waiting for me to pick up. Bought it from the parts department and took the 4 runner in to the same dealer to be installed. Got the call they will not install it earlier and can’t find any other dealer willing to. If someone wants to buy it for 580.00 in Southern California let me know. Trying to avoid the restocking fee

why not find someone from on here to help you install?

Anyone in Calgary have experience with the install or recommend a shop to do the install?

2016 Trail KDSS

tire discounters if you have one best quote I received was $426 with alignment. I dropped my 4runner off this morning for install, hopefully it'll be finished by the end of the day. Shop was short staffed already and running behind on my 8am appointment

Realizing I never posted pictures but I’m super happy with this kit as I’ve mentioned before.

oh ill check them out - didn't think that

Picked up the 4runner from tire discounters , dropped off at 8am and picked up at 4pm at closing. Here are the numbers being measured from the ground up to wheel well
pre lift lift
Driver front 34 5/8 35 3/4
passenger front 34 5/8 36 1/8
Rear remained the same at 36 3/8

About one inch in front to level it out which was expected. Installed for $426 OTD with alignment the manager told me I made out like a bandit and the person who quoted this made a mistake. Initial impressions I'm glad I did this and for the price it was a solid deal. The rider seems to be firmer and as for steering wheel shake on highway I noticed nothing yet. The alignment may have taken car of that. The manager mention the factory alignment was pretty bad, only had 11k miles.

first two pictures are stock height

is this a drop right in kit?

So after parking next to two stock 5th gens, I've discovered my 4r is actually shorter than stock suspension. Any ideas why. I used the stock hardware and only swapped the shocks and springs.

Level ground ?
Air pressure same ?
Tire size same ?
Did you measure height or just eye ball it ?

Air pressure was good. I eye balled both times (two different locations) and yes, same tire size. Although, theirs was stock tires, I have KO2s.

Hood wise, it almost looked 1 inch lower.

Assuming u have he FJ TRD suspension, Why don’t u just measure from the center of hub to fender and compare to he people on here? How do you know theirs didn’t have spacers? Any extra weight up front?

No additional weight, but I will be measuring soon. Just got to get through work stuff first. Also was wondering if anyone ran into something similar and had a quick fix.

While you're out measuring things, snap a picture of your suspension. Having that visual will help us to spot if something is wrong.

First things that come to mind:
What were the perch settings (i.e. driver high/passenger low, both low, etc.)?
Are the perches installed in the proper orientation?
Did you install the rubber shock guard on the fronts?
Did you install the rubber bushing between the shock and the top hat?
Did you re-use the factory top mount, or purchase new?

I don't think the perch orientation is really "a thing" on this suspension. I know some people with 5100s have installed them upside down and gotten more lift than anticipated (not safe, don't do that!). Assuming you purchased new top mounts, I believe the top of the shock should be: rubber shock guard, curved washer, rubber bushing, top mount, rubber bushing, flat washer, nut.

I haven't installed yet, so I can pull all of my stuff out and try to get a picture of the order of how things should be installed.

A couple examples of what it should look like:

Front went in with no issues other than the driver side, you need to be careful of the KDSS hose near the spring.

Passenger side was no problem

All done!

Now my measurements are from the ground to the fender, if you want from center of hub to fender than just subtract 15" (distance from center of hub to the ground with my 265 terra grapplers)

These measurements are as rough as can be, but they still show an increase.

Before
RF little less than 34 1/2"
RR little more than 36 1/2"
LF little less than 34"
LR little more than 36 1/2"

After
LF 36 1/4"
LR little more than 37"
RR little more than 36"
RF 35 1/4"

Going to take more measurements as I drive the truck to see if it settles.

I left the shocks as they came from Toyota, driver side on top setting and passenger side on bottom setting. Kinda wished I moved the passenger side to the top but I can always do that on down the road.

Also, curious how much it settled.

Installed my kit today. Nose dive and body roll are both significantly reduced. Large high-speed highway bumps no longer cause excessive undulations.

The ride: 07 SR5 4WD V6

The setup: PTR13-35140 and Moog fj rear springs. 265/70/17 K02s

I'm lazy and tired from wrenching so measurements will have to wait until tomorrow.

If you have the means and the availability to source it, I highly recommend this setup.

I installed this suspension a few weeks ago. Accomplished everything that I wanted it to.

After alignment, I've noticed that I can feel a lot more of the small cracks in the road in the pedals and floor board. Large bumps and dips are absorbed perfectly, just the little stuff makes it feel like something is loose. Nothing is, as I've gone back through and checked. And there are no noises that go with it. Just has an odd feeling. Has anyone else noticed this too?

And one example of what it shouldn't look like. I also want to thank Ocean Hitchhiker for posting this. I think it has/will help a lot of people.

Biggest thing to notice here is that the rubber shock guard was not installed. As a result, the top of the shock exposed too much of the shaft and the top nut was not able to be tightened enough. Visual explanation by randomguy.

Installed my fronts today using the no spring compressor method. Seems like there is a lot of space at the top of the shock. Anyone else experience this? Top pic is driver bottom is passenger, much more space on driver side.

Also, I added the Toytec 1” spacer and seems like I’m hitting my sway bar. I’ll prob order the relocation mounts, but wanted to see if anyone else has this issue too?

I got my kit today. You definitely need the dust boot as it contains a spacer with a flange on it. Without it you can’t assemble these. Pics for reference.

No boot. Threads end well before the washer, meaning you won’t get any compression on the bushing.

Boot installed. Just enough threads showing to start the nut and plenty of thread to get it tight.

I agree. Pics are needed. There's no doubting mine is a good inch or so taller than stock in the front, you can see it from outside and notice while driving.

That is strange. When I had mine installed I noticed immediately that the ride was taller. There has to be something wrong, or the other two T4Rs have a lift. Bone stock should not be taller.
