Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

I have Toytec's lower perch spacer + FJ TRD Pro kit on my car. My 4R definitely rides much stiffer than stock, but still smoother & comfortable than my previous car (E90 335i w/ ZHP). As I previously mentioned in earlier post, the ride quality degraded after putting this "stiffer" suspension setup is comparable (or slightly less) to switching from stock tires to BGF KO2 (LT LRC spec). Ride quality is a very subjective matter, so take my feedback with a grain of salt.

I do not have the Toytec spacer, but I will say the suspension vastly improved the road handling. A night and day difference. The stock suspension is dangerous in my opinion. Very mushy, causes significant body roll, needs to be driven with two hands as its very shifty, and nose dives when braking.

After the FJ TRD Pro install it drives so smoothly. It also drives better at high speeds. Less drifting when hitting bumps and can be driven with one hand. I am very pleased, almost shocked (pun intended) at how much better my 4runner drives.

That is good to hear, thank you for providing feedback.
After much hemming and hawing, I've made the leap and ordered this setup to give it a go.

Edit:
Anyone that has purchased or access to the Toytec 1" TRD Baja/PRO perch replacement spacer; I would love to find out the physical dimensions of it all.
I have access to a machine shop and would love to toy with differing perch heights.

I agree. and for those on the fence about an alignment with only an inch of lift, do it. I thought my truck drove fine after the install but had an alignment done this morning and its much more confident now. More heft to the steering and it feels more stable at speed. I asked the guy at the shop and he said the added caster they got into it is what improved the feel. I am sure getting rid of the positive camber didn't hurt the steering feel either. Here are my post lift before and after numbers.

Also here are my pre and post lift heights in inches from the floor to center of the fender:

LF: 34 1/2 to 35 7/8
RF: 34 3/4 to 36
RR: 37 to 37 1/2
LR: 36 1/2 to 37

Torn on whether to bother with a trim packer for the left rear seeing the 1/2" variation was there from the factory.

Also, as a weird benefit of the suspension, I don't seem to have as much vibration at 60 mph as I used to. same wheels went back on the same hubs so its not wheel balance. We'll see how this goes over time but I'll take it if its permanent.

Here's a pic of my KDSS equipped TRD Off Road after install and alignment. I'm getting a little bit of vibration through the steering wheel at about 60 mph. Not sure what that's about?

Couldn't agree more! The ride is more controlled yet remains very smooth. In my opinion, the truck should have rode like this from day one. A much better suspension over stock.

I mentioned this to Toyota when filling out the survey about the car. I got a phone call and a letter in the mail thanking me for my input. If that ever leads to improvements, I do not know.

I have read through this thread over the last few days, but the info is a little disjointed. So please correct me if I'm wrong.

This kit provides roughly 1 inch of front lift.
If I wanted to end up with a 2/1 lift, I could use a cornfeed 1' lift spacer in the front and rear and achieve that.

Are my assumptions correct?

A one foot lift might be a little excessive. :wink2:

Funny jokes aside, yes your assumptions are correct if you want a 2"/1" lift.

Just received my kit today and while I was inspecting the parts before install I noticed that the spring seat came pre installed on the lower of the two spring seat positions.

Can anyone who already installed their kit confirm if they left the spring seat at the lower position or did you move it to the higher position for added lift?

If you moved it, how did you move the clip?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't got mine yet, but reading through the thread, the general consensus was to use the higher position.

Im getting mixed answers. Some are saying lower position for passenger’s side and higher position for driver’s side.

I can’t speak for those with KDSS, but on mine I put the higher clip on drivers side and lower clip on passengers side to account for lean and it came out perfect.

Sorry, I should have clarified, higher clip for both if you have KDSS.

No. This kit only has 2 clip positions.

Use the top clip on the driver's side, and higher clip on the passenger side. This will account for the lean.

Thanks, top clip for driver side, lower clip for passenger side :)

Been following this thread for a while now. I’ve now gathered enough information to make an informed decision. I went ahead and purchased this kit through Frank Motors on ebay. Also ordered some TRD Pro wheels. Was gonna try for some Ray SC10 but got tired of the whole insta-sellout experience. It felt like buying exclusive Jordan sneakers or yeezys lol. I will update with ohotos once I get everything installed. Thanks for everyone that contributed to this thread.
