Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

Another question i cant seam to find the answer to.

"The Lean" does that plague KDSS models only or is it across the board?

Thanks for the info on the KYB top hats. Ive got them on order.

The kit arrived today from Frank Motors. Everything is there. Im very please with how these look. There was only one cause for concern which another member posted about. The box for the front left shock has an oil stain approximately 4” in diameter. The shock itself is dry and free from any oil or residue. Should I we worried? Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve included a photo for reference.

After posting my pic similar to yours, I took the kit to the installer and had him inspect the components. He felt the oil was just some manufacturing residue. He said that if the shock was actually leaking, there would be more fluid. I installed the kit as is, but will keep an eye on that particular shock to see if I notice anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks. I messaged Frank Motors and they pretty much said the same thing. They said unless the shock has oil or residue I should be fine.

I noticed you're also in Norcal. Who is doing your lift and how much are they charging if you don't mind me asking. So far I reached out to SWAT Customs in Fremont and they are asking $750 with alignment. I'm hoping to find someone who can do it for a lower price. I'm the worst when it comes to tools LOL

Pretty funny but I got mine from Frank motors and also had an oil stain on the one shock box. I wonder if they have something that spilled on that shelf in their warehouse. My shocks looked fine when I took them out and ride great. No leaks.

I Just received the suspension kit and would like to know what this part is for. It is a Bilstein Upper Stem Mount. I have not seen this part in any other images in this thread. Thanks.

When you get your old shocks out, look into the bottom side of the frame, where the shock will mount. You will see a tiny cutout where that tab will fit into.

Also, reuse you top bushing from your old rear shocks. Old bushing top, new bushing (w/tab) bottom.

I ran into the same thing when installed.

New to the forum and i have a few questions. I have a 2018 4runner SR5 4x4 with third row seat and I just ordered the PTR13-35140 kit. My understanding is that the new TRD FJ coils spring will give me a 1" lift in the front. What I would ultimately like is a 2" lift in the front and a 1" lift in the rear. Will the following coil springs accomplish that?

Front:

Dobinson C59-*** - 2" Lift coils for TRD Pro 4Runners, designed to add 2" lift over stock Pro height, stock weight - under design and testing - possible ETA July/Aug 2018

Rear:

Dobinson C59-599 - Stock rear end, 1.0"-1.25" lift (keeps rear end low, allowing to help level the vehicle rake with 2" front lift). 390/390mm, 17mm wire, 220LB

or

Dobinson C59-505 - Stock rear end load, 1.5" lift. 405/405mm, 17mm wire, 220LB

Thank you.

* I read the majority of this thread but there was still some uncertainty.

What is the length of the stock SR5 front coil springs? How many inches? I know the TRD FJs are 14" and the TRD 4runner are 13".

Hey folks, if one can nab the eibach pro lift for $650 shipped which results in a 2.75"/1" lift without spacers would you do it if you were certain you wanted more than the 1" up front that this TRD kit offered?

Here is the kit for reference:

https://www.tirerack.com/suspension...toModel=4Runner&autoYear=2016&autoModClar=SR5

I'm torn because I feel like the beefier front and remote resi on the rear are great (although not necessary for me) but by the time I'm done adding spacers etc. I'd be at around the same price for the eibach kit.

Thoughts? Thanks!!!

I looked at that kit but I didn’t like the 2.75/1”. I’d much rather have a 2.25/1.5 lift that u can get with a spacer and new rear spring with the TRD suspenssion.

The kit doesn't come with instructions. Someone posted instructions earlier on this thread. I'm too lazy to figure out which post, so here you go...

There's actually a lot of info/links disbursed throughout this thread that should really be edited into the first post.

Decided to go with Wheelers T13 for the rear. Still having a difficult time deciding on the front spacer.

What is the difference between the daystar coil isolator pack and the toytech bottom spring spacer? I understand the isolator pack mounts on top and the lower perch sits on the bottom but how will this affect the overall ride quality? I'm leaning towards the Toytech bottom spring spacer as this mimics the non TRD 6112.

Both of those spacers preload the coil more which will result in more firm of a ride....which will be a very subjective impression. The fact that the FJ kit coil is already stiffer (heavier) than stock should also be taken into consideration. I mentioned in a post early on that a small top plate spacer (1/2” actual size) will give you 1” addition lift and not preload the 600lb FJ kit coil. Some are dead set against a “top plate spacer” because of fears of bottoming out the shock before the bump stops while wheeling (fast off-road). If you do use a small (1/2” or less) top plate spacer, and if you truly wheel your T4r fast off-road and are worried about bottoming, just cycle the suspension without the coil and find out for yourself if the bumpstop engages before the shock bottoms out....if in fact the shock bottoms before the bump stop, install a larger bumpstop.

Thank you for this...great explanation. I'll have the dealer do exactly this when they install my shocks.
