Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

2003 4Runner .2018 supension swap

I’m new to this forum
My question is
I have a 2003 4Runner sport .id like to swap a 2018 4 runner shock and spring wondering if fit or not
Thank you

Yesterday I installed the front part of this kit on my TRD Off Road with KDSS. Also added the Toytec 1" preload spacers. I used the no spring compressor method and some of the other resources from the forum and was really happy with how smooth everything went! Today I'm going to finish up and install the rear with T-13 coils.

I left the clips in the factory positions (divers side high, passenger side low) and ended up with a 1" difference in hight and a full 3" lift over stock on the drivers side.

Before
FL 34.25"
FR 34.25"
After
FL 37.25"
FR 36.25"

After re-reading some of the posts in this thread, it sounds like with KDSS I should have put both clips on the same setting. I do not want to have to add new UCAs, and since the drivers side ended up 3" higher, I'm going to go back and move the drivers side clip to the lower setting to try and get it down closer to 2". If there's still a lean, then I might try moving the passenger side up to the higher clip.

To avoid completely removing the front suspension again, can anyone advise me as to whether this plan will work or not? Instead of completely detaching the KDSS again, if I were to only loosen the LCA bolts, compress the springs using the floor jack (no spring compressor method), remove the bolt on the top of the strut and relieve the spring pressure, would the LCA be able to drop enough for me to adjust the clips while leaving the strut attached at the bottom? I'd love to avoid redoing all the work I did yesterday.

Is there a reason why people use a spacer instead of a heavier coil spring for the front to achieve a 1-2” lift?

Eibach and King make 3x14x650 and 3x14x700 coil springs.

I think I am going to get these as they will work on my 2014 KDSS Trail. Only question I had was do I need to buy any other parts besides this kit?

I like the current "rake" angle and what to preserve that. People on this thread have mentioned that it will only provide a 1" lift to the front and I forgot the back. Anything I should know about this, rear springs, UCA etc? What if I want a 2" lift overall, what would I need to do?

Very new to this and want to make sure I buy everything correctly.

You will need 2 x _____________ and recommended 2 x _____________ and _________ to retain rake.

Seriously everything you want to know is in this thread; don't be lazy. All you gotta do is read.

Can you post some pictures of your truck when you finish? I am currently debating over installing the Toytec 1" lower preload spacer spring perch or the Toytec front top plate spacer that gives you a 3/4" lift. I would also like to hear how the 1" preload spacer affects ride quality, if there is any difference at all.

I would like to know this too.....like, I would assume there is a disadvantage to using a heavier spring (but same length spring)...like...a stiffer ride or something?

The FJ TRD kit comes with 14" springs to compensate for the spring perch being 1" lower than the 4runner or tacoma TRD kits. The 4runner and tacoma TRD kits have 13" springs.

I know. Couldn’t I just use a 14” long 650lb Eibach spring to get a 2” lift since the TRD red spring in the kit is 14” long 600lb that gives 1” lift?

Just finished installing the front. I have KDSS and I never touched the swaybar or anything related to the KDSS system.
Hint: If you jack up the lower control arm of the Opposite side it will lower the side you are working on.
I disconnected the two lower ball joint bolts, loosened the lower control arm bolts, and removed the tie rod with a tie rod puller. Loosen the top 3 three nuts on the tophat and the lower strut mount bolt. Support the disk brake with a jack and jack up the opposite side suspension. . Remove coilovers and replace.

How would a 14" Eibach give you a 2" lift if the 14" TRD only gives a 1" lift?

To achieve a 2" coil lift using the kit posted in OP of this thread you would need a 15" spring.

Finished up the rear today so here's a pic of how it currently sits. Are you planning on adding new springs in the back? If not you might end up with a slight negative rake with the Toytec 1" spring perch spacer.

Before I bought the spacer, I had a convo with a rep at Toytec and he talked me into the lower spring perch instead of the top plate. He said that the spring perch spacer was basically the same as adjusting the hight of a normal 6112.

I drove around the block with my fiancé in the car and tried to hit every speed bump and rut I could find and we didn't notice the ride being any more harsh than before the install.

Looks great. Can you take measurements from centerline of hub to fender? Also, remind me of your final setup, please.

The spring rate.

14” TRD is a 600lb spring

14” Eibach is 650lb and also comes 700lb

There is more to it than just length.

Your truck looks tight, that is the exact lift amount I am looking for.

Are they still in stock anywhere?

My sister is getting an Off Road Premium (from a Mercedes 350 diesel suv) and I think adding the TRD suspension would help her transition from her "sporty" driving Mercedes. Has anyone come across these in stock anywhere recently?
Thanks
