Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

I don't trust them doing it, that's the thing, lol. They would screw up something. And I'm pretty confident I can do it. Looks a lot easier then other cars I've been working on, where you need to reach to engine bay or trunk or have another person to help you.
But I'm wondering if dealer can deny warranty repair on KDSS in case it goes bad because of lift install? I know they would have to prove it first. Also kdss alone is more than $650 not to mention I don't think there is any of Toyota dealers in my area with a knowledge or equipment to service this system, unlike Lexus dealers.

I was told by my dealership that their orders from Toyota corporate are to deny claims on anything related to the modified suspension. I've never had to make a warranty claim but it was made clear that if I did, they would put up a fight. You might try calling your dealer with a fake scenario to feel them out.

This might be true. But not if professionally installed by them whatever that means. :laugh:
This comes from dealership who sold few 4runners equipped with kdss and OME lift installed.

Installed mine using the no spring compressor method and it was a one and a half banana job, first IFS suspension for me and I don’t really know what all the fuss is about. Took 5 hours with a rain delay.

BTW, still like this suspension. It’s kind of a sleeper build, looks slightly bigger than stock but performs great. Get it off pavement and it feels even better.

Long story short, ****ed up the XREAS on my 2019 Limited trying to get a spacer in there. Was able to find a PTR13-35140 kit that's going in as the replacement. Looking forward to reading the 100+ pages on this thread to figure out if this was a good decision. :ybrick:

It's a blessing in disguise. The OEM Pro suspension rides very nice.

Good to know, though I did enjoy the ride from the XREAS. That is, coming from an FJ TT with the old TRD Bilstiens.

Question: On my Limited, should I be putting clips on the front struts with the driver's side on the higher setting and passenger side on the lower setting?

Yes, install yours as if it were an SR5 and set the driver side clip set higher. The only exceptions to that rule are the KDSS equipped vehicles, and KDSS is not available on a Limited.

So after having this kit for about a year I'm wanting to go up higher with 285s. Can't decide on either getting the FJ4RPRO kit from toytec or getting a whole new suspension set up from OME, ToyTec or Bilstein.

I wonder how bad the FJ4RPRO kit would ride...

Nope. If you're not lifting the back you will be WAY too high up front unless you're into the Tennessee bro look lol. Installing the FJ Pro kit as out of the box will lift the front about 3/4" which will pretty much level you front to back. Don't mess with the snap ring location on the shocks. Passenger side gets the shock with the snap ring on the lower setting, driver side gets the shock with the snap ring on the top setting. There are only 2 settings. This is assuming you don't have KDSS If you do have KDSS, both rings have to placed on the top setting. Hope this helps. :lookout:

To the best of my knowledge, yes same as any other UNLESS you have KDSS If you have KDSS, both clips should be on the higher setting.

I installed the FJ Pro kit out of the box and I personally loved the ride. I wanted a little more height so I went with the TT Pro 1" preload spacer. It does ride a little firmer but still rides great. I removed my TT Ultimate kit to install the FJ Pro kit and even with the spacer it rides better than the TT Ultimate kit did with the 5100s The TT Ultimate kit is a great kit but I wanted something that was not as firm a ride and this did the trick. I am running that with a 1.5" Cornfed spacer in the back and I'm very happy overall.

I have a pair of front trd shocks from a 2017 TRD Pro I would sell for $450. They’re already built up with the coils. Only have 900 miles on them so they’re like new. Also have 1/4 inch toytec spacers I’d throw in as well. Will be going on eBay if not sold soon. The part number for the shocks are PTR13-89160 and the coil part numbers are PTR13-89150-AA Located in NC if anyone would want to pick up but may ship for the right price.
