Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

Your rig looks great! Although you may be the first person I’ve ever heard describe XREAS as “harsh”. I did a ridiculous amount of research on this setup today. It seems like all the TRd Pro setups are based on the Bilstein 6112 hardware, but each has different tuning. These kits are for the FJ Ultimate Team Trail, a limited edition FJ from 2014 (last year of their manufacture) that came out in 2013. The Bilstein 6112 came out in 2014/2015. The rest of the TRD Pro lineup happened in 2015 (Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner). All the descriptions of the FJ ultimate suspension said it was soft and pretty loose on highway at speed. The 4Runner Pro is supposed to be valved similarly to a stock Trail suspension, which is fairly firm, but not extremely firm. The Taco Pro is supposed to be the firmest of the all, similar to 5100 in ride stiffness.

I’m passing on this FJ setup because I think the valving will be a little soft for my tastes. It was bilsteins first 61xx shock attempt and they may have learned some valving lessons for the big coilovers that they incorporated into the later PRO versions and the 6112. However, Toyota seems to be clearing out the TRD Pro setups, and the Tacoma and FJ have already been listed for sale, so I’m thinking the 4Runner PRO setups are next. Just gotta keep an eye on them and jump.

Of course I could be totally wrong about all of this. I’m sure the FJ Pro suspension is great, I’m just leery of the reviews I’ve heard so far as it concerns the valving.

Thanks for the input,

I actually wouldnt mind a softer ride from what people say the 5100's provide, but I also dont want to make my mechanic mess around with fitment issues,

the shocks do look very nice though!

I was afraid it was going to happen... They see a demand and they start raising the price back up.. I'm fairly certain Olathe started at $467, then $487 and now $500...

XREAS is pretty soft, but when you hit bigger faster compression bumps, it simply doesn't have the control to keep it in check and that's to me when it feels the most harsh. Bigger bumps and faster hit bumps like expansions on the highway or something with a bigger amplitude bump.

XREAS does descent on slow compression/rebound motions like when taking a turn, the fluid cross-over seems to provide some roll resistance, but it just can't hang with the big bumps.

I'd still be interested in this setup... thinking about it.

This is Bull!!!!

The response from Olathe Toyota:

It appears Toyota has just recently changed theavailability on this part and we are only able to get it for a vehicle that isa trail edition according to the VIN. If this is true for your vehicle we wouldjust need your VIN in order to get this part released from Toyota. Otherwise wecan go ahead and get this order cancelled for you. Your order has been placedon hold until we hear back from you. Please bookmark our website for quickaccess to the best deals on genuine Toyota parts and accessories. Sorry for theinconvenience, thank you.

finds trail edition on autotrader...

I was already to send them a VIN # but my integrity kicked in. I did some more searching and it appears my local dealership has it for a few $ more. He though it was on the shelf, but after searching, I was told he would have it in about 4 business days. Fingers crossed again.

Toyota of Des Moines has them cheaper now...$529 but add coupon code GET5OFF for 5% discount. Good shipping price as well.

I ordered one yesterday afternoon, my local parts department said they had them in LA. Hopefully mine shows up.

Ok... simple set of questions here.

1) This fits 4th gen's with enlarging the rear shock alignment hole, an narrowing the lower bushing on the front strut correct?

2) If I am running a standard FJ spring on 5100's at 1.75 perch to sit level. This spring is equal to 1 inch taller, so on the 6112's provided, in theory, I need 3/4" spacer to keep things equal?

IE: Pro kit, with 3/8 spacer should be equivalent to 5100 with base FJ spring @ 1.75 perch, right?

3) These do not come with the "Bilstein" reservoir mount correct? Those must be purchased separately or are those included?

Hope y’all act quick and don’t waste time. These will be sold out soon if not already and have a feeling price will go back up. These are hella cheap!! DO IT!!!
On a 4th gen there is MINIMAL modification. My set will be here tomorrow!!

The kit is on "manual release" by Toyota. It's their system for ensuring you have a factory vehicle that warrants this kit as I understand, so they need VIN # attached to orders.

I placed mine last night upon seeing this on a whim, I have brand new 5100's and FJ springs I'll be selling consequently, but it did go through. The stuff will be on it's way to me in 2 days.

I'll be using a 1" thick top plate spacer to level the truck out. Compared to the TRD Pro spring perch spacer which is $160 and only provides 1" of lift, PLUS preloads the spring and still need a thinner top plate spacer in addition. Just doesn't make sense to me versus one solution and 1/4 the cost.

Got a call from my local dealer and they told me they found a kit on their shelf. Will be picking g it up in the morning. :-)

BTW, what spacer are you going with and where are you purchasing it from. Thanks.

I decided against the big 1" top plate spacer. I am going to see where a 1/2" top place spacer get's me. Everyone's trucks will be different, but doing the math for mine, 1/2-5/8" of spacer "should" provide a level stance like it has now.

For example, the pro springs are an advertised 1" lift over base FJ springs. So, if my current stuff is doing the job at 1.75" perch on the 5100, I would just need this pro stuff PLUS .75" for all things equal.

The 1/2" top plate spacer is good for 3/4 or 7/8" lift. So in theory, that's all I need. Anyways, I get my spacers through Wheelers Offroad. If you call them, they sell singles and their service is excellent.

Great!!! I did score my kit today and I'm eager to get it installed. I have few mechanical skills and will be paying someone to get er done for me. Normally for me, it takes me three times the amount of time and I always encounter some type of problem. I want to provide the person doing the job...., EVERYTHING they will need to get it right the first time.

If these lift the FJ 1" shouldn't these lift the 4runner 1.5 to 2"?
