I have about .5" of clearance at full stuff and lock but on the trail I always find it to be a little different because of being aired down, off camber and either uphill or downhill. However, surprisingly it looks like after market fenders aren't necessary. Trails will tell the truth!
Techs are hit and miss at Firestone (lifetime alignment) but I have a local shop that does it right and understand (*gasp), cam bolts can be adjusted!!!! I tell them and they say the computer doesn't say to do that... I then take them out to the truck and show them a stock pic and a put the phone next to mine and ask them if they notice anything... Lol. They either say, "ok, what should I do?" Or they stare blankly and say..."we don't do custom." Yesterday was the latter and I just walked out and told the manager they have idiots working for them. I'll get it done right.
Preload was standard from King with a slight half crank adjustment on the passenger side and they are 600lbs. Feels plush but not too soft. They valve for added weight and I think come rebuild time I'll add adjusters to the shocks (it's nice King has it as an add later option since none in stock had them!).
Wow, no compression adjusters on your kings? Slumming it, LOL
Yea, this is sort of what I expected on the springs. 600lb springs are plenty on an LT setup even on a heavily armored rig. It's counterintuitive at first glance, but makes perfect sense once you see the change in motion ratios with the shock mount position change.
The clearance is good news, but like you said... the trail is where things really come to light.
So when is the first trail test.
I really like this setup, but I'm leaning towards TC at the moment. I want to try the heim uppers to clear 35s easier. Pretty sure I'm also probably going to stick with ICON. Don't want to be too much of a copy cat.
