Black box inside center console

I have searched with no luck finding the answer. My search skills most like are the issue.

08 4runner there is that back plastic box inside the center console with the 3.5 mm jack in it. Is there a way to remove that black plastic box so i can add a usb charge port to it.

It can be taken out of the center console, but it involves basically removing the trim around the shifter and a bunch of screws to remove the whole center console and then finally taking apart the puzzle that is the center console to get that bin out. I just did it to mount a holster in that bin. All said and done it took about 15-20 minutes to get it out for me. Once you get the whole center console out, it's just methodically taking trim, hvac vent/ductwork and a few hidden screws to get it apart. Also, theres a few electrical connections under the shifter trim to disconnect to get it all out.

its simple if you dont have a lot of extra things wired in the console area. i took mine out once, dont think i would want to do it again with all the extra switches and mods that i have done

I have a sPOD so I only have 6 wires coming into the console.

Took it all apart actually was easy (what 14 bolts) ended up redoing the wiring in there and added some braided sleeving on the wires cleaned it up a bit. Then took car of installing a USB plug on that box where the 3.5 mm audio jack is. Turned out nice.

Then the big project started put on the movie ride along 2 opened a red bull and got the shop VAC my god i think i found half of my dogs hair packed in there. what a mess it was.

Added a few quick Fist to the back man those these are cool.

Now its time for a cold weather fire pit ahhhhh
