So I looked at the FAQs and the info thread. So heres a question, with the 2015, I was wondering. Is there a way to take off the chrome lettering, and badging, and just black it out, without trying to spray paint it on the 4R?
The letters are stuck on with a double sided tape so you can use fishing line or similar and maybe some heat to remove the letters and paint off the truck. However then you must re apply double sided tape and stick the letters back on. (at least thats my understanding) I found plastic dip to be much easier, on a note though do lots of coats, I only did 4-6 and it has already peeled in one spot. Lesson learned
Like stated above Plasti Dip is your friend super easy to use and if you don't like it peels right off.
I recommend 2-3 light base coats with 5-10 mins dry time in between
Then 6-8 heavier coats with about 20-30 mins between coats for best results "At least that was the case for me"
If you want to do a white buy a can of the gray or slate plasti dip and use that as your base coat "Makes the white plastidip turn out awesome.
If you want a high gloss shine after your last coat of black or what ever color hit it with a light coat of the Plasti Dip Glossifier
Dip Your Car on-line sells a spray that helps with cleaning plastidip and helps with UV protection and makes the plastidip turn from a rubbery coating to more of a solid coating.
