Blacking Out the Runner's Chrome

Heres the link for the 14-15 blackout kit. I believe this is what the SE gulf dealers are using on their "XP" edition SR5s:

2014 2015 Toyota 4 Runner Emblem Matte Black Out Badge Kit 11 Piece Kit | eBay

Throw the above kit at your new nameplate/emblems and ditch the dip!

Cheers!

Thanks @"Hook Em' Horns!"

I used the same kit that he and kittyhawksurf used. Super easy! I had left-over Plasti-Dip from doing the roof rails but didn't feel like spending the time taping up all the nooks-and-crannies to spray the lettering and the symbol.

Complete job took about 5 minutes. I did use a heat gun set to low and far enough away to help the 3M tape stick since the suggested install temp was for above 70F and in MD lately the high is only about 67F.

Neighbor/Friend has an SR5 so he is getting the front emblem and the two SR5 side black-outs.

Does this fit over the 2010-2013 models? Doesn't appear to but I can't imagine they changed the size of all the lettering and emblems for the refresh. Toyota is too cheap to do that.

Hmmm..not sure about that. I would check with your local parts dept and ask them if the rear lettering/emblem are the same part#s for said years.

Just put the front emblem and the two SR5 side ones on my friends 2013 SR5.

They fit perfectly!

We did it at night so I don't have pictures but he texted me the next day about how much he loved the look.

So the Ebay parts fit over the top of the existing letters/logo. Are the parts purchased from Toyota the same way or are they replacements?

The black out kit is hollow shells of the emblems. You peel back the red strips from the 3M backing and place the covers over your existing emblems.

Easy as pie.

3M-Wrapped Roof Rails

Finally got around to applying the 3M wrap to roof rails. Combined with the newly added TE/TRDP roof rail end caps, I am thoroughly pleased with the finished look

What are the oem Part #s for the black rear emblem and letters?

I don't have those part numbers and I couldn't tell you if they exist.

I used the black-out overlay kit that was sold on ebay but the original vendor no longer has the item. They were simply black plastic covers that stick on with 3M tape on-top of the original factory chromed symbol and letters.

Hook em' Horns posted part numbers for the rear but I believe the letters and symbol are chrome.

The thought here would be to buy the parts, paint the letters and symbol black while they are not attached to the rear lift gate handle panel, then piece it all together without having to deal with undesired over-spray.
