Blackout Hood?

Has anyone ever applied a blackout graphic to the hood of their 4th generation 4Runner? This is often found on Land Rover Discoveries and I believe it comes stock on the Trail Teams FJ.
The purpose of the hood blackout is to cut the glare off the hood from rack mounted lights.

Thanks-

i have been thinking about doing this as well. i was gona start looking for a used sport hood and have it painted black. i have a 04 silver sr5 and i think it would look pretty good.

I thought about doing it to mine for a while to fight hood glare from the roof lights and black vinyl is VERY cheap on eBay, but clearly I never did it. I actually ordered some vinyl for $20 but I ordered the wrong size, then I got busy and moved on. I did photoshop these pics though

I prefer the way it looked with just the higher part of the hood black

Good ideas, anyone have any idea how much it would be installed?

I think if I tried to install vinyl wrap it would turn out like me wrapping christmas presents, all wrinkled....

BTW Gaterose that looks great with the vinyl in the center of the hood. Do it!

I was thinking of doing the center portion down to just shy of the top of the grill, kinda how you have your second pic shown but a bite further down. I had also thought of doing the whole hood, but even though it does give it a certain look...to me it just looks like you replaced the hood and didn't have enough $$ to get it painted. :)

I had thought of using plasti-dip to see how it looks since that would be easier to just spray on vs. laying down the vinyl wrinkless...and if you don't like it, the plasti-dip will peel back off easily.

Rather than committing to paint I think vinyl would be the way to go myself. That way it's reversible which is always good. Check out Crawlorado Store (Powered by CubeCart) and talk to Trevor. He said he'd be happy to make one for the 4th gens if he had a truck handy. I offer mine for him to use for the prototype but can't afford anything right now to be the first.

I tried emailing Trevor at the contact address on the website, but got a failure to deliver notice.

Surprisingly I had not thought of Plasti-dip. That stuff comes up on the threads here every couple of days too!
I have a sport version so trying to vinyl wrap around the hood scoop would be a serious challenge.
When the weather warms a little I may try the plasti-dip blackout mod!

Thanks for all the replies.
