GREAT WRITE-UP...Thanks. This was my first mod on my 2014 Limited. Just an FYI for some people, before you try and pry off the A-pillar cover, mine had a bolt that needed to be removed. Its hidden behind the "SRS Aibag" logo that needs to be pryed off first. I have a Canadian 4Runner so not sure if that matters...

So I could say charge my phone and keep the dash cam running while in the mall with the truck off and set the cut-off so I don't kill the battery?

I have the same set up in my 2012 LE and it has been flawless.
I replaced my 32g Micro SD card with a 128GB I purchased from Micro Center about 6 weeks ago. So far no recording issues.
I set my power controller at 11.8 v since my truck sits for a week. No dead battery yet. It has cranked over every time.

Yes i believe it would work but wouldn't know how to wire the cigarette lighter to the power magic pro. All the power magic pro does it monitors the voltage of the battery and restrict power, theoretically you can attach whatever you want to it.

Reviving an old thread here, but I'm looking at the same unit. Have you had any issues since you installed that I should consider before pulling the trigger on this?

i know you are calling on fenix here, but i have had mine installed for over a year now and through one texas summer (with another one in progress), had a windshield replaced, re-stuck it, and its still going strong as ever.
No issues with the cam, the quality, the app, or the wiring (power magic pro, etc.)
its a great setup.
Great write up... I Looked into this as well before I purchased a Vantrue X1.. I hardwired mine underneath the dash board fuse box and ran the wires under the piller.. Figure if I need to upgrade this is probably the one im going for.. But then again idk 300 is really steep.. haha..

I appreciate the feedback. I spend 2 hours a day commuting on a good day. Figure buy once, cry once. Especially when it comes to covering my a$$ from stupid people on the road

My .002 for those shopping around, I MUCH prefer the Thinkware F770 over all the Blackvue products I've had in the past.
I didn't remove any pillars in my 17 LE, pushing the wires into the gaps is easy enough all around the vehicle. Also, I'm tapped into the cabin fusebox - no need to route to engine bay.

Great write up on the install. I recently installed the Thinkware F770 in my civic and love it. When comparing cameras it came down to the Thinkware and BlackVue. I will follow this writeup when I get around to installing one in my 4Runner.
