Blew my engine.. Might strip car for parts

Without a hitch for the most part. New engine runs 10x better than the old one did (only had 26k on it, and I replaced every single gasket, seal, belt, tensioner w/p, plugs, wires, filters, pvc, etc before putting it in)

I got it from LKQ, got the lowest mileage and best condition engine they had in the country.

Not to steal Ziptie's response but LKQ is a pick and pull national auto recycle "junkyard". I think they are also branching off into collision repair. In Charleston there used to be no pick and pulls until LKQ showed up. The beautiful thing is most of the cashiers only know generic parts such as calipers, etc. so it is quite possible to walk out with a slew of used parts for little $$$.

Obviously you can see the mileage but how do you know its the best condition engine in the country? Are you trusting the words of the guy behind the counter? How would he know, did he physically inspect each and every one?

Just curious, because how would you truly know the condition of the motor unless you checked it out yourself?

Always check CL for any possible part out or wreck 4runner that is still intact and could be run while it is in the car.

You have to trust someone, i dont know how LKQ does it, but when you are doing that sort of work, someone will run it before the vehicle is cut up and determine its condition, so no you are not taking the dipsh*t behind counters word, it is the mechanic that removes it word, and i believe LKQ gives a 6 month warrenty on used motors.

The LKQ in my town some Mexican mechanics grabbed the rear diffs from the two third gens and the 2nd gen they had.



And guys! Not sure what the shipping is on hoods, but the LKQ near me has two hoods, one being a SPORT HOOD. And my neighbor does painting so I can at least have them sanded and primed.
The sport hood is black so I might keep it and sell my hood instead. Inbox me if you're interested. I can grab it and ship it to wherever I just need the money to do it.
