Blown Eibach shock with 5k miles on it

Hey guys, Merry Christmas. Did my annual 5k oil change today and always do a inspection of the under carriage during the process. I noticed oil all over my passenger side coil spring and shock and then noticed the black rubber cap that is on the top of the shock came off and dumped shock oil all over. I am very surprised about this, Eibach always made good stuff. They have 5k miles on them and have not seen offroading yet! Going to call Eibach on Monday and see what happens.

Million Mile Warranty | Eibach

Most likely you’ll be taken care of under Eibach’s million mile warranty. Looks like you may have to wait until Monday, January 4th to speak to anyone at Eibach though due to the holiday break.

That stinks. It's more of a pain than anything really. Now you need to install a new shock on a short timeline. I've had shocks blow out prematurely with regular street use too. Sometimes they just weren't made right. Can happen with anything. Hopefully they have stock on hand to replace that ASAP. If they don't I can say that 5100's work great with those springs. That's what I have on mine. And they are generally more readily available than the Eibach stuff which is one of the reasons I didn't just buy the Eibach kit instead. After 20 years in the aftermarket BMW parts business dealing with dozens of suspension vendors including Eibach they always seemed to be the one never having dampers in stock and constantly switching their vendors for dampers. Sachs, koni, Bilstein, they have had contracts with them all. Honestly I would be very surprised if their shocks were just a 5100 or a slightly re-valved 5100. They look identical.

I am worried they are going to tell me I have to send the shock back to them first ,then I will get a new one. It is my only car and I am on the other side of the country

What Bilstein typically does is they sell you a replacement and just refund you once the old one comes back. I imagine this would be similar. Of course they cover the part only not any labor or anything.

Eibach is mailing out a new shock tomorrow for me. I wish I knew what happened, hopefully it was just a dud.

Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 Failure

I put a set of Eibach on my '19 4Runner in June 2023 (front: pro-truck coilover 2.0, rear: pro-truck/pro-lift) . I've got about 12K mi on them. Over the past few months, I started noticing nose dive on braking and a roaring noise from the front. Took it to a mechanic to look at the alignment. He says the alignment was not really off but, and all the suspension components look ok. But the inside of the front tires are cupping. He drove it and noticed the same diving and roaring. He says it's the shocks. I bought everything from Tire Rack last year and reached out to 'em yesterday. grr.
