Blown engine? Anyone want to guess? (Long Story)

Did you look just for 4R engines or others as well? When do you think youll be up and running again?

There were a few vehicles the 4.7 could of came out of and still been a direct swap. Don’t remember which ones off hand. Shooting for this weekend if all goes well. I don’t see any reason why not. Been taking it slow I’m in remote areas sometimes as well and don’t want to be stranded

And a 5.7 would be awesome

It's been mentioned alot around the forums that some of the sensors around the 4.7 changed over the years and different trucks. To have a truly easy time swapping a motor, it's best to get your exact year/model.

Anything is doable....with the right amount of $$$.

Yeah, I could see that. But good luck even finding "decent" motors. Not many exist. Plus, if I can get the basic block and VVTi heads then I can swap all my stuff over to the other engine. Tundra is just headers and engine mounts and maybe a couple of sensors to swap over. I was planning to replace AC Compressor, all TB/WP/ETC, and maybe put a stronger alternator in for off the grid but I think the stock one is OK. If I have the intake mani off I'll probably replace the starter since I'm in there. It's just the difference in rods is all. However, if I can't find an engine that gives me an warm and fuzzy I may send my block and heads to a machine shop to have them look it over and fix it up. Then I'll spend them money on rods if they are jacked so I can SC it down the road. Who knows...still have 2 bolts to get out of the tranny. Once it's out I'll take a better look. hwell:

Yeah. I saw that. I ended up sourcing a 2005 4Runner engine with 127k so I won't be rebuilding which I'm happy about as I really didn't want to rebuild. New motor shows up on Friday. Probably won't get it in till following weekend since I have some header work to do. Well, gotta order them first! HAHA
