Bluetooth and Palm Treo??

Aloha!

Anyone have success synching a Palm Treo with their Bluetooth (Phone only).

My iPhone works great, but this is my wife's vehicle, and she has a Treo.

When I attempt to pair the phone and the stereo, the phone sees the Car Multimedia, but the stereo doesn't see the phone...just keeps "searching...searching...searching"

Any suggestions (besides getting another phone)?

did you put the phone in a discovery mode? It is called different things on different phones, but basically many phones are "locked" and you have to make it available to the car. That is how my Sony-Ericsson phone works (and that is how I want it to work since you can actually transmit and pull data from people's phone via bluetooth).

Should be available under the bluetooth option in the phone. It may then also require a code to be punched in. Default is often 1111 or something like that.

Yeah, the phone is discoverable...I've been searching other forums, and it seems the Toyota Bluetooth and Palm Bluetooth don't play nicely.

There is one solution recommended on a Prius forum which I'll try once my wife gets home...

Have you gotten past the point where you need to enter the PIN into the phone? Is it a Windows based Treo or Palm OS. With my Treo 755p (Palm OS), I had to make a test phone call and then everything would be fine and dandy there on out. But without the test phone call, the two will never connect to each other even after repeated deletes and "pairings". On the other hand, my Touch Pro2 connects flawlessly.

It could be due to the Runner seeing my iPhone instead...(I have the iPhone in an upstairs bedroom away from the garage, and the car is still able to connect to it.)

I'll turn off the iPhone and try again.

That could be the problem if it's connected to your iPhone. I'm the only driver of my 4Runner, so no one else has their phones paired to mine.

Bluetooth is a finicky technology. I've had my Treo connect to the 4Runner when it's upstairs above the garage or in the back of the house through a few walls. However, there are times where my BT headset won't sound clear because the phone is on my right hip and headset is on my left ear.

Hey i was wondering about this test call you talked about to get your 755 palm to connect. How do you do this if you don't mind me asking. thanks

By "test call" I meant initiating any phone call from the phone.

I made a regular phone call from my 755p, it then magically connected via BT to the nav and transferred the audio to the speaker in the 4Runner. Before making that phone call, the nav never connected to or saw the 755p. It wouldn't display the signal strength, battery life or home/roaming status.

Yup...start the pairing process, then while the audio system is "searching" for your phone, (and after you've entered the PIN into your phone), make a call from the phone. This seems to have worked for most...

I haven't had a chance to test it w/o my iPhone being on or in range...my wife is too busy enjoying her new Runner.
