Body Lift or Spacers?

Ok, I've searched around a bit, but haven't been able to find a whole lot.

My question is this: I just put on an old man emu 3" lift. I'm going to replace the stock tires with 275/70/15s (possibly 285s) but I want to keep the distance between the wheel well and top of the tire the same. I just like the look of it. Would it be more beneficial to just do a body lift? Or should I get all the drop brackets etc and just add spacers on top of the ome lift? Which would be safer? If I go with spacers, what all would I have to drop to make it work?

Thanks for the help!

I would not advise putting spacers on top of a already existing "lift kit" for this is dangerous and most likley would damage your front shocks.... For the rest of your post, its confusing at what you want... Drop brackets?

You can't fit 15's either, I assume you meant 275/70/17

It's time for a body lift imo. It's not real clear, but maybe he's talking about drop brackets such as what would come with a larger lift, such as the 6" lift for the FJ.

Yes exactly. Sorry, I wasn't clear. Basically just want to know what the best options are for going over 3" of lift. I read that if you go over 3" you have to drop your front diff and other things so I was just wanting to know what those other components were that I would have to drop. Hopefully that made more sense?

Yes, you will need to do a BL and anything over 3" you'll need the diff drop (I've heard it's pointless, however) and also should strongly consider new UCAs as well.

Body lift seems like the way to go. Unless I'm mistaken, I think you can ad a 1-1.5" bl without having to do too much modification.

Yeah perfect! Thats basically what I was looking for. How much of a body lift do you have? And did you do it yourself?

When I put larger tires on i still want that clearance in the wheel well. I think it looks really good.

I meant 15s. May need some modification to the rotors from what I hear but the sr5 may be able to fit them. My buddy has a 2nd gen with 15s so I'm going to test it out and see. If not, then yeah stock size.

It's a one inch toytec body lift and it was really pretty easy to install. I have some new pics on my computer that I shot with my dslr. I'll post those here sometime this weekend.
