Bolt on slider mid-install help white knuckle sliders

Hey everyone. So i got my passenger side slider installed with 3 u bolts per side. On drivers side rear near gas tank theres 2 brake lines on top I have to pop a bracket and get one of main u bolts under those lines. Anyone know how to better see the clip for the brake lines? A jack point? Doesnt feel good aiming a flathead at those brake lines without seeing whats going on. I can hand wiggle the plastic bracket but seems I need to get under it too??

If I remember right I just put a flat-head under the bracket and pushed it out. Takes a bit of force but should come out. Getting that last U-bolt in is the worst part about installing these sliders, but once they are on they are great. Have saved me several times already.

thanks. I can only see the top of the white bracket and took a pic of it. I know where to pry but aiming blind has me nervous with the lines. Can the take it you think if I'm careful? Thanks

Heres a pic of the clip i have to pop up so the u Bolt can cross under the two lines. I can only see the top of white from under my car...can i jack the cab up at all to get access? I might try a flatgead and pulling up from right to let and hope I get it to let go...really dont want to damage the lines.

For the front u bolt I'll be guiding it behind some crusty looking lines lol

Either go under the clip and pop it out or pop the lines out of the clip, that might actually be what I did looking at your picture, but not 100% sure. I am not at home so I can't take a picture of mine. Can check tonight if you still need it.

Thanks...i just have to go for it I guess. Heard somewhere the lines arent as weak as they look (?? Help lol ??) Yeah if you went above your clip let me knowand thanks.

Here some pictures of mine. The U-bolt will be in front of the bracket. The first picture shows the inside of the frame where the lines go over the u-bolt. You definitely have to get the u-bolt under the lines, else you will just smash them. I really think that I was able to pop the lines out of the bracket and did not pop the bracket out. They are pretty tough. Need to clean some dirt out from under there there!!!

Sorry a bit late to the party: I popped the bracket out. I thought it was going to be an issue but it wasn't.

I did the driver's side first and it took about an hour and a half. Passenger side took about 25 minutes.

I'm not talking about the parking brake on the frame sides I mean the drivers rear harlines on top. Theres a white clip still giving me trouble. Whats the trick with the one in the pic I posted? Flathead between two bottom pieces or? I cant get it out and trying not to break the lines. They wont unclip from their spots easily enough and this is all blind.

I wedged my screwdriver between the frame rail and the clip and popped it off. Let me go see if I can get a picture for you.

I couldn't get my phone in there enough to get a picture, sorry. I recall it just took some muscle to pop the clip loose. My clip is now gone somewhere and the lines are just resting on the u-bolt.

Thanks. I have tried that but with too much force and it being blind its scary with a slip and the hardlines right there and gas tank on other side of frame. I'll mess around with it a bit more tomorrow. Hoping I dont have to resnake the forward ubolts out before the workweek and I get the clip undone tomorrow. I have it loose enough now where I might shim the lines enough to get bolt thru but otherwise feel like it has a technique to release. I can get two have on it from underneath but limited for tools.

You could also use a bent tool, like a body panel puller. I have an old screwdriver that I bent at a 90* angle for prying things like this. A monkey's paw nail puller, if you have one, would work perfectly.

A bent tool when I thought about what I would use to do this is a brake spoon/adjusting tool.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally got it all figured out...the hidden clip was tough but eventually broke it free. Another I was able to clip because I could see it. Tricky job but worth it and I still have my brakes lol. Ill post some pics soon - the sliders are dampening my new 5100/ome setup nicely.
