Bought a New 4Runner today!!

congrats on the new whip... just want to comment on the AWD in FL... in the past 4 years i've been going to Sarasota to visit my family i have yet to see one T4R, V6 or V8 with 4x4/AWD... very cool.

Hey guys, thanks again for all the compliments I am so ready to pick her up tomorrow!!! first things are gonna be a dawn bath to get off any cheap wax the dealer puts on and then atleast 3 coats of Pinnacle Wax!

I dont really care for the look of the spoiler as its just too bulky compared to my '02s spoiler, but who knows, i might add one later if the dust on the rear windshield becomes a problem.

I am not sure if mine was a special order that someone backed out on, but either way I am glad it came with out it!

My 99 4Runner was silver and I loved it, i cant wait to not have to wash it everyday to keep it looking clean like I would have to do with the black if I cared to do so!

The side airbags were a MAJOR selling point as I have been in TWO vehicles (both 4runners!! a 98 and a 94!!!) that have rolled over and came out with minor injuries in the 94 and about 20% less of a finger in the 98, but I lived both times so hopefully I never have to test these out, I am tired of high speed roll overs!!

I still think my 02 is a very good looking vehicle, and believe it has that "timeless" look to it as the earlier 4runners have. Hopefully this one will develop into that as time goes on!

I think I am going to order the Weathertech Floor Liners as soon as I can get my hands on the extra 170$ for them. I dont think I will debadge it but I might in the future.

AWD in the Florida downpours is really helpful, I use the AWD in my '02 everytime it pours and just love how it feels planted to the road, I cant wait to get the '07 out in the rain to test it out (hopefully with some different tires on it though!)

00void, if you are ever passing through Gainesville or Tampa, keep your eye out for a tinted up silver 4runner, it just may be me though after the purchase I have seen atleast 3 other sport edition v8 4x4s. Apparently it isnt as rare as I once thought, but I dont care, its still a slick looking vehicle.

More pictures of the new one to come tomorrow if I have time or Thursday more likely (since I will be pretty busy waxing her all afternoon once I get it) get ready for some twin 4runner pics ( geuss I need to clean up my '02 before I do that though lol!

you're 100% right... the 3rd Gen is still my favorite body style of all the T4Rs. while i'm cool with the styling of the 4th Gen, nothing compared to my '00 SR5 Sport

i have Weathertech floor liners in my Pathfinder... worth every cent. i love them.

i fly into Tampa and spend some time there... i'll keep an eye out. i always do when i go there because it's so foreign to NOT see a 4x4/AWD T4R... that's all we have here in NJ.

Congrats on the new purchase. Wow that dealership looks like the one in Gainesville florida where I live. Enjoy the ride.

When I looked at the new and old pictures, that was my thought. Wow, that 02 is a great looking vehicle. I am thinking on getting a new 4Runner so I was interested in what you had to say. I do like the new vehicle, but my 01 has been great.

Congrats on your new 4Runner and also for keeping your old one.

Thanks peter, keeping the '02 forever has always been my goal and now it appears that I might actually get to accomplish it.

The new ones are so much more comfortable than the 3rd gens, and after driving my slow as hell '02 for 6 years, I really appreciate the power of the V8.

Def. go check it out and I am sure you wont be disappointed if you drive home with a new one!

been really busy the past few days and will be for the next two weeks or so, so no daylight pictures of the new girl, but here are some taken the night i took delivery.

i had to joy ride for a few miles when i got it, it came with 60 miles on it

Nice ride! Ican't wait for mine!

But... I custom ordered mine, and I wasn't able to take off the spoiler.... I can't say that I dislike it at all, and I didn't really have a problem with it... I just remeber the guy telling me for everything I wanted, the spoiler had to come too.

If it's custom ordered aren't you supposed to be able to get any option you either want, or don't want? Or is it just one they are holding for you as soon as it hits port?

I just bought a '08 SR5, Galactic Grey, 17 rims. Couldnt be happier with the deal we got, along with the truck. Only thing that stinks is within having the car for 3 hours, we got the VSC error. It's freezing here in MD/DE so looks like thats the cause, but since we just got it i'm calling to get it looked at.

Man, what the HELL else could it be BESIDES YOUR UNGODLY TEMPS! hehe, hope it warms up soon ;-)
---we've had our i think like 7th day of sub 55 degree weather, which is minimal for even a FL winter. should be an interesting hurricane season ;-D

Er...My '08 Sport here in Columbus hasn't been out of freezing temps more than a couple days since I got it and I've never hit a VSC error light...although I did kick in VSC in the parking lot at work one morning trying to whip it around a bit just to see how it handled, straightened me right out and lined me up for my parking space nicely :)

I'll be completely honest though, i havent had the problem, my wife has. She wanted to drive it to work to show it off to her coworkers, then calls me and says its very hard to turn? I'm guessing this has something to do with the VSC since the light was saying VSC turned off? I dont want to look like a moron to the dealer when its just my wife effing up.

Can someone give me a simpletons view on the VSC, i've read about 7 other threads and am not entirely sure if mine is malfunctioning or just engaged?

What occurs is she starts the truck, it has VSC Off light up and stay lit. Can she hit the button next to the locking Diff to take care of this(maybe she did accidently) And if the VSCOff light is lit, would that explain the car being very hard to turn into parking spaces?

It is very possible she hit the center differential button. Just hit it again to unlock the center diff. I don't know if that would make the truck tight to turn though. I must confess, I have accidentally hit the button twice since I have my 4Runner.

Well, once i got my chance to drive the new purchase :D I found out she had both VSC off, and the locking Diff on i think. Either way i was able to get it figured out, and running as is should be. I'm just happy i didnt have to look like a moron calling the dealer

Nice Ride!

Congrats on the new ride -- we can all live vicariously through you for the duration of this thread!

Couple of questions: why does everyone hate the Dunlop Grand Treks? I bought a gently used 03 Sport (V8, spoiler, aftermarket leather, JBL w/hardwired SAT, hood guard, rear shelf, recent Nifty Catchall Xtreme mats) last fall that had been dressed up a bit - sort of halfway to being a limited except for the side cladding -- and they had put new tires on it. So far through this Central Ohio winter (typically snow, freezing rain, rain, then refreezing again) I have been very happy with the tires. I just plowed through a late night storm a week ago Thursday, and it was like I was driving on dry pavement.

So 7000 miles into the tires, maybe they are not the quietest, but I am happy. Do they wear quickly?
