It appears when people are narrowing their decisions down for head units it comes down mostly to the Kenwood DNX8120, Eclipse AVN6600, Alpine IWA (something like this) Pioneer F900/90BT and AVIC Z-* series.
After doing about two weeks of research I've decided to go with the Kenwood DNX8120 for my 2003 4Runner w/JBL speakers.
Since I've just received the unit yesterday I can comment on the actual functionality but you are looking for some of the same features I was looking for so that's why I recommend this unit.
Biggest complaint I've read about the 8120 is the visual look of the navigation, people seem to complain that the look of it is outdated although the functionality seems top notch.
For what I understand the unit will allow playback of MP3's on CD's and DVD's (huge + for me), XM/Sirius ready (not interested right now cause I'm into podcasts listening right now), 2 USB ports, for IPOD and another external device such as USB stick or portable hard drive (another awesome feature for me), Bluetooth that supposedly work very well except for iphone which a patch was released to correct some issues. Maps are stored on flash memory and can be easily updated via flash card. The bypass to allow you to watch movies while driving is easily done and if your interested in a rear camera I believe almost any brand will work and people seem to suggest getting a camera with night vision.
Before I can get this installed I'm waiting on Crutchfield to send me the Ipod cable I ordered which is the KCA-IP300V and I ordered a wiring harness (Metra Axxess TYTO-01) and (PAC SWI-JACK) to retain my steering controls. I should be getting everything this weekend hopefully and I will post some pics up when the install is complete.
Just an F.Y.I, by no means am I an expert at this, this is my first time doing this myself I'm just sharing with you some of the research and things I found out by researching the web and visiting car shops.
