Only one choice for me Tekonsha P3:

I tow around 3500lbs of tent trailer around a lot, and the P3 controls the brakes so smoothly - no jolting or anything weird.

I've got the Prodigy P2 controller - a slightly less expensive version of the P3... Either of these from Tekonsha will serve you well!

I've got a solid state control the Activator III advertised as the Reese Ultra. Worked well as I towed across country and save my bacon during an emergency stop driving through NM. Only thing is you have to adjust it when you go from Highway to City streets. You can mount it any way you want since its solid state.

I have this one too. It does the job perfectly at a significantly lower price than the P3.
