brake light wont turn off! WTF!!

2001 runner. my brake light wont turn off. tires spin freely, brake is not on. anyone know what is goin on??

If you're talking about the brake light on the dash, then you're brake fluid is low. If your talking about the tail lights then you've probably got a crossed wire, or the filament in one of the bulbs have melted just right.

sorry its my parking brake light. brake fluid is good. when the light is not on, i can engage and disengage the parking brakeand the light turns on and off. i havent been paying a lot of attention to it, cuz i dont think its that big of a deal for now, but it seems to come on when im in 4wd. just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

If tail lights Check the sensor on the brake pedal, check to see if the rubber stopper is still there and is contacting the sensor.

Baja Runner you owe me 100 bucks!! fluid level is fine. its my parking brake light. but its not coming on anymore. im doin my brakes tomorrow so ill check things out while im in there.

Look at your hand brake. Pull the hand brake up to the top. Look inside the rubber flaps. There is a little tiny button at the bottom that controls the light. Your's is stuck down.

And if that's not it, test the fluid sensor inside the brake fluid cap.

jump the low fluid level switch and the parking brake switch, which ever one turns off your light when you jump it is the culprit.

its my parking brake light.

The "Brake" light lights up if the parking brake is on AND if there is a service brake issue. (low fluid is the most common issue)

There is small brake light relay switch behind the brake pedal, underneath that is a bracket that houses a small green plastic stop Which the relay hits when the pedal is compressed. Well after several thousand compressions they brake, I found little green pcs on my floor mats just after I noticed the lights were stuck on. I simply super glued a neoprene washer to the bracket, WaLa lights off, you can find them at any Hardware store.
