Brake pad rattle / front end clunk

I've been chasing the front end clunk people post about, just replaced perfectly good end links lol. Then I noticed this

From my understanding most kits only come with 2 anti rattle brake pad clips
2000-2020 Toyota Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip 47748-35010 | toyotacool

And the kits only come with these parts

I'm thinking about picking up 2 more anti rattle clips and attaching them to the top of the pads, there are clip points there (where I'm holding the pad in the video).

Anyone who's chasing this issue, this is what I've found. If others have had this issue, let me know what you've done.

when I converted my 85 to the later vented rotors, I added an extra clip to each side, for this very reason.


though, usually 1 is enough.

Ok cool, so it seems like that should resolve this issue. Nice and easy.

For those wondering, I was hearing a clunk when I would back the truck up and hit the brakes. Then I would hear a clunk when I would drive forward and hit the brakes. I would on occasion hear the same clunk over rough pavement or driving up a small incline (gas station driveway apron). The clunk sounded like it was coming from the center of the car under the skid plate, so obviously the sound traveled, potentially creating a situation where I spent even more money replacing parts that didn't replacing.

Anyways, chasing the sound led me to believe the end links or sway bar bushings were the issue. I started with the ordering new end links and getting into that, then I noticed the pads.

I had my front pads replaced because the slide pins were loose, causing a similar front end noise. Mine was part of chasing the Fox shock problem.

Did you ever resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem. I added extra clips and it helped for a while, but now its back.
