Brake pad squeal indicator orientation

I'm changing the pads and rotors and I just noticed that I installed the two pads with the big squeal indicator on the same wheel (duh!). The pads I have actually each have a squeal indicator, 2 have one that is below the pad and bigger and more obvious, and 2 have one that is kind of below/behind the pad and smaller.

Does it matter which side of the rotor each goes on? I will swap them around but I don't know which side they should be on if it does indeed matter.

Mine came stock on the back side of the rotor. If you put it on the front side you'll be practically touching the rotor with it. Basically, install the pads the same way you took em out.

That is what I ended up doing. There was a quick break of sunshine so I wanted to get it done. After looking at it for a minute, it made more sense for the pad with the single tab to be "dragging" against the wheel rather then getting pushed against the pad when it would be touching the rotor, and that meant the inside . I swapped them around and am done. Thanks for the quick reply!
