For the price, I have had really good luck with Bendix Fleet MetLocks on the front and Bendix Priority One Ceramics on the rear.

Thanks for the info on the rotors. I was wondering how Toyota made the pads grippier with just ceramics. Usually brake pads with better stopping power usually have some type of metallic materials which wear down the rotors faster. I didn’t know if they were using some other type of material. But if the TRD is still all ceramic then the wear should be the same as the OEM pads

TRD pads are ceramic metallic, thus better grip. Tradeoff is lot more dust and slightly faster wear on rotors. Please read TRD pads instruction carefully. If I may I'd recommend primary break-in process and not the alternative they offer. Hard stops from 50 to 10 mph times 10, then drive for a while to cool your rotors (prepare to be amazed by pad material transfer to rotors and amount of wear on rotor after just doing that). Don't worry though, it is all normal. If you can live with brake dust on fronts - you will enjoy your awesome initial bite.

P.S. I ditched my stock rotors since last post for EBC GD Series due to superior casting and material resistance to uneven wear. My OEM had to much run-off or "warp" after 2 years of use and develop annoying jolting during slow casual stops with lite braking that felt like uneven surface because during normal to hard effort pulsing went away. It may be concluded that TRD pad wears OEM rotors more due to metallic composition. Just like any performance part - it will have some minuses to it's pluses.

Brake pads

I only use factory pads purchased from a dealer.
I once purchased Honda pads for my Pilot from an internet parts store. They looked good, nice Honda label box etc.but only lasted 20,000 miles! Obviously counterfit. Since I always put my old pads in the box I get with the new pads I was able to examine the counterfit box and pads. Very subtle differences upon careful examination.
So now I only get pads from dealer and carefully compare to old packaging and pads.
Factory pads give good rotor life and work very well for my driving.

Suggestions on brake pads OEM OR?

I've always used PowerStop... The ones rated for Truck & Tow.

I had them on my 2009 Tahoe that had a lift and 35" tires and I use them on my 2019 4Runner SR5P with a lift and 35" tires. I pair them with their slotted and drilled rotors.

I'm now trying to find someone in Northern Alabama who will actually turn the rotors so I don't have to buy new ones next time I need new pads.

ceramic v semi metallic

I've found ceramic pads tend to be harsh producing more wear on rotors thru excessive heat build up and heat retention. Semi metallic pads I prefer, mainly due to smoother, quieter braking and less wear/tear on rotors while producing more brake dust.

Be aware Toyota has a cheap line of brake pads. Then the better ones like that come on new runners. Someone here may have the part numbers?
I always have good luck with stock rotors and pads. No complaints!

But like shocks, wheels, tires, springs there are hundreds of other brands to evaluate and spend money upon.

I've ran EBC Green stuff and I hated them on the 4Runner. Bite was great but brake dust was horrendous. I cleaned my wheels (stock OEM silver SR5 ones) daily because they'd be noticeably darker/browner than rears.

I switched to Hawk HPS and had a lot of great luck (still running them). Not near as much brake dust and I didn't notice any less brake feel. I'm cleaning the wheels now once a week, maybe.

That being said, I'll go back to Toyota OEM pads next to give them another shot.

If your towing the PowerStop towing pads are good, clean, not noisey and do work better.

I use Duralast from AutoZone. They are lifetime replacement and I plan to keep this thing forever. They are actually good quality too with minimal brake dust.
