Brake wire location on a 2001?

I am wiring up a brake controller to my 4R and hope there is someone who knows which is the brake wire coming off the brake pedal. I did try a search but nothing popped up that I could readily find.

I just went outside and looked, Its a green wire with the white stripe.

I used a volt meter's beep setting and stabbed them with the brake pressed. Buuuuuut getting a scotch lock on that wire is one of the most difficult things ive ever done haha. Its a tight fit for one hand let alone TWO! I think I ended up using one but it was a real pain.

If I were to do it again, I would just run a long wire from the rear brake lights since they are so easy to access.

maybe someone has an easier idea but thats all I know.

So you got me thinking about tieing into the wire in another place since it was such a nightware to access it by the switch.

I found this picture on yotatech, Props to the guy for his extensive detailed write up.

Looks like there are a few green white wires but it would be easy to find the right one with a volt meter beep setting. Cheers :cheers:

If you cant tell that looks like its the box behind the panel just to the left of your feet when your sitting in the drivers seat.

Or you could locate it the scientific way. It passes through Pin 10 of the white connector in the pic which is plug IE2 in the left kick panel. Pin-out is on page 39 of the first doc attached.

Or Pin 10 of plug IL1 in the right kick panel. On Page 41 of same doc.

Or you can get it at Plug 3c in the center junction box by the steering tube at Pin 15 or 16. Might be more room there. Plug 3c location and pin-out in third doc at page 26.

I too am struggling to find the green with white lol. I read that how to so many times but I'm just not seeing it. I'll have another look tmw.

Ok...so I was using the picture of the kick panel calimobber posted and even read the link that was provided. The problem is my 2001 looks a lot different than the 97 4R. In fact, here is what mine looks like:

But if you notice, I was able to track down the green and white brake wire.

It was still a tight fit on top side of that connector but the bottom side the yellow wires had plenty of slack so I used the one that matched up with the green and white.

Truth is it took longer to find the green/white wire than it did to wire it up. Hopefully this helps any 01-02 4R drivers out there trying to wire up their brake controllers.

Got it hooked up today. Thanks for the idea of hooking it to the corresponding yellow wire. Much easier.

Glad I could help.

I plan on mounting my controller on the other side of the steering wheel. I banged my knees enough times when I mounted the controller in the same place you did too many times when getting in the truck.
