Brakes and Rotors

Yes I have searched, just looking for the best deal on Brembo Rotors and Hawk Ceramic pads. I do not want to upgrade to tundra brakes. Just looking for deals on rotor/pad combos. Truck has 96,000 miles, developing a very mild vibration in steering under braking. I see its very common, just looking for links to the best deals, I may just go to autozone, I believe they have a 2 year replacement deal.

Why not just do the tundra brake upgrade? You're going to be taking the calipers off and rotors off anyway if you are replacing the rotors. It's ridiculously easy to do, and a no brainer upgrade. Nothing to lose, lots to gain, even if you go with the 199 mm.

Tundra brakes all day man! Brembos look good but definitely overkill if your not running a track car.

Do some more diggin on the Tundra upgrade. It's a nigh and day difference. I'm stopping better with heavy 35" tires and the Tundra breaks than I was with the stock setup.

I have the brembo blanks and HAWK LTS pads ---- such a huge improvement what I had previously (probably some cheap chinese parts). Before, I always felt like I was going to hit the car in front of me at a stop light, but now I almost don't brake to the point of tailgating.

I probably should have went Tundra, I don't have any experience bleeding brakes though. I have decent mechanical skills.. the 4runner has 96,000 miles on it, so this should last me 35-50,000 more I hop.

Finally installed the parts today: rotors and pads seemed very easy on this vehicle. The pads that were on the vehicle, looked new, so I assume the rotors were warped, haven't got to drive it very far yet. Installation went very smooth.

Really stupid question, On my 08 Runner with the V8 I am having a problem installing the wheels after changing out the rotors, pads and calipers... I can not get enough thread from the studs to come thru the wheel holes to grab onto.

I loosen the 2 bolts that hold the cal on and then get more thread but then I can not thighen the bolts... Either I'm going nuts or just tired... calling it a night and hoping someone has a suggestion so I can rap this job up tomorrow.

You could do the 199mm Tundra upgrade and save some money.
Bleeding brakes is simple

Hey OP, how's the break in on the new brakes going? Love em? Wish you would have did tundras? I have tundras on my 98 and its 10x the brakes my stock brakes are on my 02. I am about to redo the 02s brakes though, I'm leaning 95% to tundras though since they have proved themselves to be superior in braking for me at least.

When I bought my 98, the previous owner had already swapped tundras on when they did the lift and bigger tires. I have only bought brake pads. Not sure yet where I will buy parts for my 02, haven't priced any yet, but I am going this route I decided for my wife's runner since the tundras make my lifted 4runner feel much more comfortable when stopping and we do a lot of driving with our kids.
