Break Pressure to stay stopped in traffic...

Have a 2015 SR5 4x4. I find that it takes a lot of foot pressure on the break to keep my 4R ford creeping forward when stopped in traffic at a red light etc.....

Does anyone else notice this? Can it be adjusted? I have come close to bumping car in front of me without me knowing I was moving.

I think that's normal for these bad boys. I have the same issue but have gotten used to it. The first few times freaked me out because it you can't feel it moving!

Yea i noticed this as well. Dunno if it can be adjusted, it may have something to do with gearing. It seems to be the norm.

It is commonly known that a 4Runner will never stop... Ever... :heh:

Neither have I, but the bigger question is, what was your last vehicle? I have been driving my '87 truck for the past 20-something years, so the 4runner actually feels light to me compared to the truck. Of course, driving the Honduh usually ends up with me doing brake checks on the family for the first 2 or 3 stops!

My 2004 SR5 did this and I am used to it now on the 2015.

I notice it when the AC compressor cycles on and off while at a stop. When the compressor engages then I feel like the brake pedal loses a little pressure and I have to press slightly harder to keep the car from creeping forward at the stop.

I have only noticed this while the AC was selected to run and not otherwise in both vehicles. More noticeable when I get lazy and light-footed on the brake pedal while waiting at the stop.

I actually like to use the 4runner creep and then mash the breaks to the beat of the music. The mushy breaks mixed with nose dive (that a lot of people seem to complain about) makes me feel like I have a 4runner on hydraulics like in an old NWA or Snoop Dogg music video!imp:

Edit: My one year old son can't stop laughing when I do this by the way.

It is annoying. I always worry about letting other people drive it because of this reason. I am aware of the slow creep and have luckily caught myself within inches of tapping the person in front of me but others who dont drive it all the time may not realize (and it only gets worse with the AC on). Its just something you have to deal with I guess!

After stopping, I just push down a little harder on the pedal.
Driving isn't for everyone I guess.

Being somewhat new to the forum, I come across threads like this and wonder what the heck everyone is talking about. My 4R acts just like any other auto transmission vehicle I have driven. If I push the pedal enough it stays put, if I let off a bit it creeps. If the AC is running with faster idle, it takes slightly more pressure, but nothing heavy. Same for all of my Jeeps, Suburbans, old Trans Am, or any other car I've owned or rented with an auto transmission. I guess I've just driven enough vehicles that I adapt quickly and go on.

Edit: I will admit that stupid panic brake assist thing scared the crap out of me a few times. Now if there was something I could disable it would be that stupid feature.
