He lives!!!! What's up buddy, when are we gonna break your lift in? The tire will definitely block the plate in the stock location, but I can either hang it under the gas can on the left or maybe right under the Hi-lift mount. I need to get a Hi-lift now so I can see where the plate will look right. Not sure if I care about running the light for the plate or not.

LOL...yeah, I'm still kickin'. We need to break-in the SS1.2. Been on a few regular trails in SD but ready to tackle something more challenging. Keith is ready as well.

Can't wait to see the bumper in person!
 
Brian you need to hit ballbuster so you can update your photo with the new bumper. Looks like I'm going to do my sliders this weekend.
 
I know, I definitely need to get some wheelin shots with the new bumper! What day are you gonna do your sliders? I don't mind driving down there to help!

I'll have to miss this one as it is the wife b-day party that day. And weekend of 10/9 is occupied with nascar tickets arrived yesterday.
 
Well I got the bumper finished yesterday and the spare tire and gas can holder mounted! I had to straighten out the bumper a little (it was sitting sort of sideways before) and I drilled 4 remaining holes that Pikeman and I didn't have time to do last weekend. I used 8 existing holes in the frame and had to drill 8 new ones for a total of 16 bolts holding this bad dog on. I also painted the gas can holder, mounted the license plate, and installed two 10mm OME trim packers to raise the rear end back up from all the weight which got me right back up to where I was before the bumper.

I had an annoying rattle/creak that was driving me crazy and I thought it was the swing-away moving around or the sound of the frame flexing. Luckily it was just the top facia piece that goes across (under the hatch) rubbing on the snubbers for the old spare tire mount under the body. I just took some thick double-sided tape and wedged it in-between while prying the facia down with a big screwdriver and all is quiet now! I'll see how that works and if it rubs through the tape, I'll just cut the snubbers off. Here's my fix for now..

Finally today, I mounted and wired in my new CB. I still have to run the antenna cable, mount the antenna, and dial it in, but I'm waiting on the cable and the antenna spring coming in the mail. I sat in my truck for ~20 minutes deciding on where to put the CB until I finally figured out a good place. I was going to take out my ashtray and put it in there at 1st, but I use my ashtray and didn't want to lose that. Also, I would still have to do a fair amount of cutting on the the dash to make it fit and it was still going to be a little too close to my tranny shifter. So.. I mounted it right under the ignition, above my right knee. Good spot, and my leg is still a few inches away from hitting it..

Looks great the only thing that I see to worry about is the license plate looks like it might catch on a big rock or when going up dishpan
 
It looks great brian. I think i may order one up soon. Anyways wish i could go break it in with you this upcoming weekend. :(
 
Soooooooooo......
I ordered a Budbuilt skid and bellypan yesterday (early b-day present to myself)!! I figure I'll get a little b-day $$ from the folks, family, and friends so thanks to them for helping me buy the skids. Bud said they should be here next week Tues. or Wed. so if all goes right, I'll have them on for the John Bull run the following weekend!

I also had Bud make me a 3" hole for an oil plug access because I have heard of too many people having to take their skids off to do an oil change and that just ain't cool with me! The standard hole is big enough to get a socket through, but I figured a 3" hole will be a lot easier to deal with and still provide adaquate protection for the oil pan. So for any of you who may be ordering a Budbuilt, I recommend having him do this mod for an extra $20.

You do have skids, but they're only about 2 ft. long x 2". I need to get some of those too tho. That crane pic was emailed to me in a bunch of "fail" pics, it cracked me up.
 
Hey guys I also order some skids yesterday, but I went for skid row skid plates instead due to shipping price and overall price. I knew that I would really need them this coming trip!! They said I should be getting them on monday:)
 
Congrats proud!! I looked at skid rows and thought they were just as good, but I thought the 3 pieces were like $700 instead of the 2 pieces (Buds) for $500. Was it cheaper for the grand total? Here I thought I saved money.
