Installed 2nd Layer of Soundproofing Material in all 4 Doors




The foam is sticky on one side so its easy to install. The part that takes forever is cutting each piece to fit into the door crevices. I ended up bringing the panels inside and doing most of the cutting in my living room. 4 hours later all doors were done.

Is that ensolite foam? I would be curious to know the effects. I was planning on doing the same thing when the cold winter months are done here in WI. Planning on putting it on all my interior plastic panels.

Yes it is ensolite foam @ $20 yard. I bought 2 yards and it was enough for all 4 doors.

It is a bit quieter than before although I haven't driven on the freeway yet.

The ride is mostly the same. The poly body mounts are a slight bit stiffer but the BL does not change the suspension so no real change there.

Oh, when you said Anza Borrego I thought that was it. I'm from SD and was a big desert/river rat, it's been YEARS since I was at superstition and for a second I thought this was it.

Had new Inner & Outer Tie Rods put in. Toyota of course.

Results .... WOW .. WOW.


Keep in mind I'm at 220k+ miles and these were the originals. Pretty much everything else has been replaced.

In other news ...


Tomorrow I will be putting my front sway bar back on. I recently removed it due to squeeking OEM frame mount bushings. The paint had worn away and the bar was rusting onto the bushing all causing horrible squeak.

One interesting thing: as soon as I removed it my 285s started rubbing against the stock UCAs on any decent turns. This never happened with the sway bar on. It makes a difference!

My truck can power its own floodlight for hours and hours and hours now.


So I was at Costco the other day and they had this cool looking SnapOn LED Powered Floodlight for only $25-ish. It only requires 30W to run. Just 30W !!!!!

Here it is powered by my 175W Pocket Sized 12V to 120V Inverter.

******* 02-14-14 New Stereo Installed *******


Wow. I just installed a new stereo, details below, and it is awesome. Particularly the bluetooth audio which actually sounds surprisingly great.

I paid $230 on EBAY for a brand new one with 1 year warranty.

*4V Pre-outs (x6)
* No tilt
* Decent screen
* HD Radio Tuning Built In (sounds great!)
* High Quality (2013 version) BlueTooth Audio

The BlueTooth audio really surprised me because I thought it would sound like crap. This newer equipment when paired with a new Android Device like my Nexus 7 (v2) is awesome. The head unit knows the song and you can still control everything from the Android Device which I have mounted over the clock.

Pictures of the install. I am of course using a 4 channel amplified so I have no need for the stereo wires - just cap those off. I used spades to connect the various power and antenna wires. I don't prefer to solder the wires because it is unnecessary and makes changing the stereo a pain.

02-14-14 | Finally! Pictures of my Body Lift Installed & Flares & newly modded Sliders


You can also see it installed with the full lift in the night picture a few posts above.

I finished the body lift a few weeks ago but haven't really posted that many pictures. Here are a few with more to come after this weekends trip.
