Tetanus 1 did get a new set of spark plugs wires and its MAF cleaned. My cylinder 4 misfire decided to flare up. The coil that misfiring is not near the threshold of resistance [ in the middle ](Granted it possible its still could be failing) . I figured I test the new wires resistance. All of which are less then 9k ohm. As are threshold on spark plug wires is less then 25k ohm. I know in a month if my coil is still good or in need of replacement.

Oh I still be around. I do try to help others fix their rigs. I am just starting to really miss my garage. However, family is more important to me. As they need me at this time.

I hope things start to improve for you, I always look forward to updates to your build thread and you've provided a lot of good advice for my projects.

for your misfire issue, maybe try testing the coil after a long drive, when I had a similar issue the coil pack tested good when cold, but would start missing after 20 minutes of driving

Yes the interesting thing is I changed the plugs and it went away for a few weeks. Then the bugger started missing on Weds here. So I went to the parts mobile and pulled the first coil out with its spark plug wire and put it in on Weds night and the miss was gone for 2 days here. As my plug wires were a/m in Tetanus1. I wanted to replace them. So I put the original coil back in. As we know the plug and the wire both are good. Time will tell if this coil is still good or bad.

What stinks is that parts can test good and still be bad. I have seen that too many times in the past. Granted its more rare but it can happen. As I have 3 spare coils without even touching the fleet of 5 coils. I am actually in good shape.

I still be on the forum here just probably will be grumpy as I miss my garage time.

Before all changes here. I spent many a night and Saturdays in my garage repairing and rebuilding Toyotas.

And because of life changes here I am unable to do that at this time.

You will also notice that this was about the same time I really became active in this forum.

As I am unable to work on my fleet or tinker with mine at the moment. I just help everyone else fix theirs.

Being I have access to internet all the time. It helps me fill a void for now. My $$ job keeps me very connected.

Tetanus 1 walker exhaust died before its 5th birthday. Big surprise there. I lost the walker tailpipe last March. So it got a northeastern stainless exhaust. I had the tailpipe changed in march of 2019. However, the Chinese only sell the tailpipe separate. So if you want the muffler you have to buy the kit. [Under $200 bucks on Ebay] . I bought an OEM replacement middle hanger and the OEM exhaust gaskets because they are much better gaskets. Anyhow, The exhaust went right in. My one year old tailpipe still is in excellent condition with very little rust on it so I was pleased with that. I was good to turn a few wrenches again.

My next little project is to get rid of my 2 inch lower driver side to the passenger side with these 99 Hilander springs. The A/M springs didn't last 5 years so they are junk. I am sure these will last alot longer.

That exhaust looks nice, much smoother bends than the Walker stuff. Was the system missing a hanger, I didn't know they made add-on ones.

Oh sorry. I had a 2 inch lean on my drivers side. I can take an after photo but my springs that were in it were 5 years old A/M junk. I am level again with I say a slight 1 inch lift .

We are supposed to have that hanger on our cat / muffler flange. Most of the 3rd gens hanger rusted away or were removed when the after market exhaust put in. I just painted it with 1200 degree grill paint to see if that stays on the hanger and keeps it from rotting away.

Hmm I think the Walker system has that hanger. I replaced the OEM system like 8 years ago and don'r recall having extra rubber hangers after the installation LOL

I still have my OEM tailpipe, it'll be the third muffler (including the original). I want to weld on some metal to the flange though, a lot of it rusted away.

FX makes a replacement flange for the CAT side.

I removed the exhaust hanger at the CAT to sand blast it and then lost it.

FX flanges are the ticket. If one would dig around. I am sure a replacement flange could be found.


Major difference on those springs. Almost like a new ride.

When your exhaust insulators kinda rot around the nut that holds them in and you live in the rust belt. They may snap off. Lota of times a little bit of thread if left and you can screw a 6mm x1mn flanged nut on.

Then you can get 4 washers that go over the nut with a. 6mm long bolt with fender washer and a second nut and solve your problem. I fixed this for less then $5.00

This was what the center hanger looks like that is missing in a pile of 3rd gens. I painted it with 1200 degree paint just to see how it holds up.
