Broken Antenna

I have a 99 limited 4X4 and the power antenna broke a few months ago (big shock for a t4r right?)

Yes i know there known for going out, Ive got 234K on the clock and the motor still works fine I could hear it every time I start the car and turn it off, just no movement with the antenna

So for the past few months I have just left it up, no big deal, until today I went through a carwash and it broke it in half

I know its about $60 for a replacement at the dealership

The manager of the wash offered me a free wax and said he will install a new one for me for free which I was really pleased with, since Im getting a free $60 wax when techincally my antenna was already broken.

Should I replace it with another power antenna like normal or get a regular one? The reason I ask is I have an aftermarket radio and even when my stereo isnt on radio even if its off or on CD or something the antenna still wouldnt go down anyways, only would go down when the car is off, so I couldnt ever go through an automated wash again. Thanks!

Simplify your life. Get a few extra plastic fender clips and replace the antenna with a 30 dollar aftermarket brand.

if the motor still works then you can buy an ebay replacment antenna with the track on it for 15ish and you will be back in business. Take yours apart first to determine that its the plastic track thats broken.

Don't buy the cheap eBay masts. Read this thread and you can get the job done.
