So girlfriend takes the Runner to run errands with her parents (they in to town because I'm graduating from college YAY!) and they all walk out to my Runner and noticed my passenger side rear quarter panel window is smashed...intact but smashed So I get out of class and head over to where I had it parked the night before, sure enough there is shards of glass strewn across the pavement. Cops called when they arrived and did their job I asked him if there has been any other reports lately. He says not recently but about a month back they had many and turned out some kids were cruising around late at night with a BB gun shooting out people's windows....who the hell does that?!

Anyway what I was wondering is if anyone could help me figure out whether I have found the correct part on Rock Auto. The part number I came up with from Rock Auto is FQ21884Y. Now I haven't called around yet to see what other places would charge, and of course labor needs to be added in still.

Yes, that is the correct part. Actually, the full part number is FQ21884 YPY.

Unless you have experience working with auto glass urethane systems, I would highly suggest you take it to a reputable shop. Cutting out the rest of the urethane and remaining glass without marring the body requires experienced hands.

You're probably not saving much if any money by going through Rock Auto. Talk to your local glass shops and get quotes. Make sure you check out reviews of their service as well.

Assuming you have comprehensive insurance coverage, you could pay as little as $50 for the deductible. I would just put in a claim to my insurance company.

If your deductible is low enough and you do plan on going through insurance, make sure you specify to them which shop you prefer.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys. Concerning the insurance thing my deductible is more than some quotes I got from a few places $450-500 then told me and no specific glass coverage so I don't have the $50 glass only deductible. My plan is to take it to a reputable shop here in town but they were quoting those above numbers with 300-350 of it being the glass and 100-150 being the labor so I thought I could save some money by finding the glass myself.
So if I picked up the glass from Rock Auto for $150 it seems I could save myself a good chunk of money. At the time when I called them I also had asked if I found my own glass what the install would cost and I received quotes between 100-150.

The $450 to $500 quotes seem a bit high. Where are you located? San Francisco Bay Area that job should be around $350 maximum, parts and labor.

I called 3 different spots here in Grand Forks, ND. There are others but I just called the most frequented repairs shops that I have heard good things about.

Interesting. It just may be the going rate for your region.

Just remember that the rear quarter windows both have a radio antenna grid in them. Make sure that what ever glass you get has this grid, and the installer knows how to install it so the antenna grid works.
