Brown discoloration on tires- What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Yes it is from your tire shine. You could try scrubbing it with a stiff brush, but I'm not sure it'll work. I would stop using them.

I'm pretty sure that is wrong and it is not from your tire shine. The rubber in tires naturally makes that brown coating and it actually helps protect the tires. On tires that aren't cleaned frequently you see this coating much more than on tires that are cleaned frequently.
For instance I clean my tires alot every time because they get covered in mud frequently and they look mostly black afterwards. My brother's car on the other hand the tires have alot of this brown because I don't think the previous owner washed it much and he doesn't either. I also keep my cars very clean though...

rubber that is continually exposed to the sun exhibit that kind of discoloration. use tire black that protects tires against uv rays.

If it's more prevalent on the front than the rear then I would say it's brake dust. If it's both front and rear then as other have said, it could be whatever tire shine product your using.

If you soak and scrub them with degreaser while washing you can get them clean most likely. Just let it sit on them for 2-3 mins then use a brush. Also, I use a water based [Megiars D170 Hyper Dressing] tire shine to leave less residue and discoloring. I own a detailing business and this is what I do.

I also detail cars, but as a side job. Soap and water plus a plastic bristle brush and some elbow grease will get some of it off. It's not from your tire dressing. Yes stay away from Armorall. I use Finish Kare 108 AS (anti-static) on the tires and I've had very good results. I posted this info in another thread too. I love Finish Kare products, I buy what I use by the gallon. :bounce:

If it's the same brown stuff that's on my tires (BFG Long Trail), it is definitely not the dressing. When I first bought them I noticed that just one of them looked like that, and the tire dealer told me that it should come off the first time I washed it. Since then, the other three started doing the same thing, and no matter what I use to try and remove it, it is still there. Strange thing is, my mother's 4th gen has the exact same tires purchased at around the same time and they don't have this issue.
I've been using the same dressing for a long time now (Chemical Guys matte) and have never had the issue before.

Being an owner of a detailing business you my friend should know how to spell Meguiars , and I would suggest Meguiars Ultimate Black Tire Coating not the hyper dressing. I don't own a detailing business ........... I own 7 of them
